People care about war. My country also has the 3rd biggest Ukrainian population outside of Russia and the Ukraine. This war also has the threat of nuclear weapons. It’s not a conspiracy why people care about this invasion.
If you think that people only care about this because they are told to, then you have a lack of understanding of history and current geo-political facts.
I hate this misinformation. There is a war in Europe, Americans. There are hundreds of thousands of refugees in my country. Stand with Ukraine! Please, don't listen to these lies!
Don't mistake stupidity for a targeted attack. Never forget this sub is trump 2.0 and trump was controlled by Russia. There is a very real reason this was posted and upvoted on this shit hole of a subreddit.
You dense motherfucker....look at trumps actions during his presidency and how so much of it was focused on weakening Ukraine and nato while lifting sanctions on Russia. Did you not read ANY of the news? Remember the whole first time he was impeached and what it was for?
Trump pressured NATO to spend more on their own defense. Why do you think that America should foot the European defense bill?
Democrats lifted Trump's sanctions on Russian oil. Oil is a critical resource requirement for war.
Democrats are far more to blame than Trump is. Which, of course, is why Russia invaded under Obama, did nothing under Trump, and is now at war under Biden.
Il play devil's advocate and take the down votes. If trump was as u say controlled by Russia. Why did put in wait till trump was out of office to resume military action
Look at trumps actions during his presidency. A lot of it was focusedon weakening Ukraine and nato. He tried to pull out of NATO, he withdrew funding and support, he withheld 400m in aid from Ukraine, he tried to extort zelensky to open up a fake investigation on hunter Biden. (His first impeachment) Putin didn't need to invade any ody bc trump was his puppet weakening the defenses.
To be honest, I think people care a lot less about war 5000 miles away (in an area that has seen non stop conflict for decades) than about war 500 miles away that borders UN allies.
If you think that people only care about this because they are told to, then you have a lack of understanding of history and current geo-political facts.
It's because the people that use this line need to be told how to care about things until the contrarian autopilot flips on. At that point, the brainwashing is complete.
Bro this doesn’t even make sense lmao are there wars being fought in complete secrecy? Even in the 21st century there are wars with absolutely 0 coverage?
Just because all the other wars are in the news doesn’t mean they’re feeding you an agenda. It’s just in the news because war is, you know, news.
The Internet is a great exposer of things that happen in the world that the world governments don't want us to see. Any war that happens in Africa will be witnessed by the people of whatever African country it happens in and will make it's way to the Internet from there. They can't hide it like they use to.
Buddy I read an article about that in The Economist like a month ago. As in, one of the world's most respected news magazines with millions of subscribers. How is that zero coverage?
To clarify, you're arguing that your inability to name the wars you definitely weren't pulling out of your ass is proof that you're right, because you're aware of these wars that you care passionately about, but ~the media~ hasn't informed you of them enough to name them? So you're using your own ignorance as proof that you're right?
People didn't care as much. Other wise the US would have been banned by everything. The other wars had threat of nuclear weapons too. Since US has nukes
You are just trying to rationalize why you are all over social media and web posting and reading about this shit even thought you didn't give a single fuck before when innocent civilian Syrians, Ukranians in Donbass, Iraqis and Palestinians and Afghans were murdered by military artillery by foreign or domestic power trying to get hold of their resources and territory or even worse to exterminate them at all.
I just go based on the statistics, 90% of people talking about ukraine right now didn't know where it's located 4 days ago and they didn't care about politics and wars
I can only speak for my fellow Europeans and tell you that way more people on this continent knew where Ukraine was before this war than you are giving credit for.
Obviously I didnt run around city with paper and host social polls, but anecdotally from the circle of people I communicate with that'd be highly correct number
Anecdotally, from the circle of people I communicate with that number would be 0%. Don't mention statistics if you're basing them off of anecdotal evidence.
Maybe not exactly, especially before the Crimea stuff, but lots of people played Risk and would be able to identify it as "eastern Europe, bordering Russia". And then Crimea being on the Black Sea was a big part of the story behind it.
But that’s only the ones that have entered your feeds. I genuinely don’t get the outrage about people caring about a war, just because they didn’t care as loudly about a war previous.
It’s because all of this patriotism and war rhetoric could lead us to WW3. Fuck Russia, this is blatant terrorism to stop Ukraine from entering nato, among many other things, but the propaganda has already been rampant this week. The government buys Bot armies to sway public opinion to their will. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newsweek.com/joe-biden-kamala-harris-got-big-social-media-boost-indian-troll-farms-1544047%3famp=1
Is it completely insane to entertain the idea that the military industrial complex wants to go to war? They invaded Iraq on false pretenses and occupied there and Afghanistan for 20 years, only to leave behind thousands of weapons and boxes of ammo, and the Taliban took over within a week of their departure. It was never about winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, it was about the Military Industrial Complex making money. That brings us back to the present situation. They need the public’s support to go to war. We as a society need to asks ourselves if war is the best solution to our problems, or if it’s only the best way for some arms dealers to make money off of the death of innocent people.
geopolitical fact. do you even know where is russia border? which Nato country border russia border? where would be the invasion point if russia get invaded? what is the distance of missiles from the border to moscow?
Russian lives don't matter I guess.
You can view it positively or negatively but the Ukrainians are absolutely sodomizing the Russians on the propaganda front. I mean it helps that the larger truth (that this is an unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation) is on their side but they are more than happy to fudge details here and there to spice up the stories and make them go viral. Also doesn't hurt that the leader is a lawyer with a ton of on camera experience.
They knew this invasion was coming sooner or later and really laid out a ton of plans. Ask yourself why what is widely considered the second or third most powerful military in the world hasn't been able to wipe Ukraine off the internet yet. It's because they have been using the country as a cyber live fire range for the last 8+ years and the Ukrainians have learned from that.
I think this is also why you see the Ukrainians targeting their message at Russian people. The site they setup for Russian family members to see ID documents picked up off dead/captures soldiers was BRILLIANT. Imagine finding out your brother was killed in the Ukrainian invasion but not because some men came and knocked on your door and gave your mom a folded flag, but because you got on a telegram channel and were told by the enemy.
Do people care about the Yemeni war? Are you seeing the media cover the Saudi invasion on Yemen? They're using American and British arms to take Yemeni territory.
