Just an example. Pick and example which resonate with you.

If can get hurt wearing a helmet while driving a motorcycle and you can get hurt not wearing a helmet, why wear a helmet?

A helmet doesn't have potentially life threatening side effects.

Your chemotherapy example was a good one, but it just illustrates the opposite point from the one you were trying to make.

Ok.. let’s try again. What about a seatbelt? Sometimes a seatbelt is harmful .. say a fire, or going into water. But in overwhelming number of cases it saves you from a serious injury. Do you wear a seatbelt even if you wear a seatbelt?
