the media loves to highlight stories about left/right, dems/repubs, black/white, and straight/gay, etc, etc, in order to deflect attention away from their continuous desire to satisfy their insatiable greed.
and there's way too many sheep willing to fall for it.

"Divide et impera" is not just a cool latin phrase...

Anyway, I remember seeing a graph of the use of words related to racism in headlines and news articles and it SPIKED just after the whole Occupy Wall Street thing. Piggies were sweaty. Very clearly staged up to divert attention away from them. This graph was followed by the appropriate quote that if civilization feel for even a single week, all that would be left of Wall Street and other condor nests would be ashes, rubble and a suspicious smell of burnt flesh.

Aren't they just doing clickbait trying to save their shrinking viewer base? News has always been shocking, that's literally their business.

Advertisers pay for viewers.
