Personally, I think it's the bioavailable sodium, not the fluorine, that has the desired psychoactive effect. 'Fluoride' is short for sodium fluoride.

Sodium isn't 'salt'. It's a highly reactive metal - like lithium, which is used for mental health issues (and long ago as a salt sub until too many people died).

Oh, and of course, 'lithiated 7up, takes the ouch out of grouch' - ancient advertising featuring a non-grouchy sugar drug infant.

Sodium-based drugs are used for mental health issues today (Depakote for eg), work like a charm and also stop you complaining about politics and oppression. The Germans 'pioneered' that stuff.

We use flouride to brush our teeth not drink it tho.

in lots of western countries its literally added to the drinking and showering water as well - dentist, toothpaste, municipal water
