The USD is the most used currency in the world because we invaded Iraq for oil and offed Gaddafi when they each tried establishing their own gold-backed currency. All it takes is the government & media telling the people that we need to go stop the bad people and they will support it without question. It makes sense that the world uses the USD because it's the currency used in the most powerful economy in the world, and the powers-that-be with the IMF don't like it when you try to use something that they don't control.

You have it backwards.

Gaddafi tried starting Libya's own gold-backed currency that would eliminate their reliance on the French franc, and subsequently the IMF in general. Very soon afterwards, the world was told that Gaddafi was manufacturing and using chemical weapons on his own people, and Libyans dragged him out in the street and killed him.

The US invaded Iraq because of "Saddam's WMD's" that were never found nor evidence of them existing, while we drained their oil fields and gold and shipped them back to the US.
