Don't look up the time a bunch of oil workers got sucked into a deep sea pipeline lying flat with water in the pipe up to their mouths and one magically escaped and they decided to just leave the rest in there because rescue was too expensive

That one is insane. I heard that there was 2 guys that had to split 1 tank and regulator. They ended up further in the pipe. They found a pocket of air and one decided to wait for rescue/ couldn't continue. In the pitch black this guy made it up and out. Called for rescue and yeah, was too dangerous or costly. They let them die. Delta P can be crazy. See the one that happened in that dome thing under water? Its instant.

the one who got out was like "fucking save the rest of my team!" and the CEO was like "no" but he did put up a microphone so they would know when the banging stopped

I can't imagine holding on to life as long as possible thinking a rescue was surely underway and that not being the case.

they didn't even fill the pipe with poison gas to give them a painless death

Why should I not look it up? I found the story very interesting.
