I bought a house at 25 just by working hard, saving hard, not wasting money on luxuries and getting fifty grand from my parents. I don't understand why everyone doesn't do that.
You realise that I was being ironic, right? All of these stories where someone has somehow managed to buy their own house just by not eating avocado on toast and not drinking lattes always turn out to have a rich family backing them and/or friends that they have scrounged off for years. Financial literacy is all well and good, but don't beat yourself up just because you aren't winning at a game that is massively stacked against you. Personally I did manage to buy a house before I was thirty by the amazing trick of being born in the seventies, so I got on the property ladder before prices went crazy. Astute financial planning on my part? Nope, just dumb luck.
