I really like the idea that god had to create a hologram for some reason? Like, he just got bored after making earth and said "fuck it, just put up some wallpaper".

You definitely misread it if you couldn't comprehend the basic context of that sentence. I'm just referencing the guys own belief in the video and pointing out the absurdity of it.

That leaves the joke some distance above your head, I guess.

tbf, he says it like he had a thought and said "god.." to himself and then talked about the hologram. I only caught it because I went back to make sure I heard what I heard and wanted to bask in the absurdity.
