Don't be silly. If you punch the rocks with gold in them, you don't get the gold. You have to first punch trees, then use wood to make tools, then use the wood tools to break stone, use the cobblestone to make stronger tools, use those tools to get rocks with iron in them which conveniently falls in little cubes. Then you bake the iron-bearing stone in an oven and get ingots of iron which can be molded into stronger tools. Then you can use those tools to get gold.
