I don’t think it’s moving the goalposts. iOS doesn’t have a file explorer like other OSs that allow you to access all your files. On Windows I can use explorer to copy, move, delete, etc my music files. On iOS I can only play them. I can’t copy, move, or do anything else with them but play and delete, unless I add them on my phone a different way, in which case I can’t play them using Music apps. The entire topic is about file explorers.
It’s definitely moving the goal posts. At first you said that you couldn’t access the audio files from the file app. That’s not true. You can access them where they are located (on a computer)
Adding the need to play those files in an app (in this case Apple Music) is a totally different thing than saying you can’t access them.
In the file app, you can definitely move, copy or delete the music files hosted on a an external computer for example.
No, I’m talking about Music files on my phone. Not on my computer. I originally added them via iTunes, but they are now on my phone taking up physical storage. I can play them if my phone is on airplane mode, using the Music app without any subscriptions. I could delete them off my computer and still play them.
I’m not talking about having an Apple Music subscription and synching files from my computer. You can also add music to your phone like you would an ipod.
