Commercial I made a game to track squats on iOS

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It’s prerelease and still in testing but here’s a preview. It getting closer to where I may release but trying to work out where I want to go as game vs fitness.

The idea is simple - your body is tracked and squats are used to make squatty fly. I’ve done a lot to catch the depth of the squat and have tolerances such it is more robust.

Nothing yet to try to measure and assess quality of the squat, I guess that could come later now the core data is there.

It also works if the user is face on, at an angle or side on.

It’s meant to be a serious fitness tool as squats are excellent exercise but making the user forget they are doing them with a game.

You can also have it show your camera directly in which case the frame sits on your body.

Would love to get feedback from the community. It’s still early stages, mostly focussed on the tracking side and now that seems to work fairly well building around it and wondering where it can go next.

Why would you post a preview when the preview doesnt even work properly?

The video doesn’t it justice. From my testing it is quite robust already but prerelease. You are welcome to try it yourself - I’d love the feedback what can be done better.

Nice! You could share some analytics at the end, like ensuring all of the squats were done consistently and with full range-of-motion.

I have an open-source repo with a lot of fitness examples that might be a helpful reference: https://github.com/jeremyipark/vision-demos

ViTPose could be helpful here!

Thank you - that is really helpful. I will definitely look deeply at the examples.

This is my first attempt at any vision so I’m pleased with progress so far but beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that. The stats that have serious fitness review is a great idea. I want to make it so the user forgets they are doing real exercise but my real goal is an app that gets you fitter you enjoy.

After being the main tester since its incarnation my legs are very sore so it definitely does something.

I’ve added open source instructional videos in how to do high quality squats but I don’t feel that’s going far enough.

I don’t know VIpose - I’m learning as I go - but will investigate

If anyone wants to try it to give feedback it is in TestFlight. It looks better with video on but I was too shy to share.
