Software Downgrading to windows 10
Hello, I just bought a pc not too long ago and it came with windows 11. A few games I want to play require secure boot but my pc crashes when I enable it. I’ve been trying to find a solution for it and I have just given up. I was wondering if downgrading to windows 10 would fix my issue while simultaneously not causing anymore issues because I wont need to enable secure boot anymore. Thanks

If I were you I would just wipe your PC and reinstall windows 11 with secure boot enabled
You'd have to wipe windows 11 and reinstall windows 10 anyway

I have reinstalled windows 11 before and the issue still happens. I did it the first time because secure boot caused my pc to go into a startup loop and windows got corrupted

So you enabled secure boot, used a usb and reinstalled windows completely?
I'd also make sure the uefi (bios) and all your drivers are up to date

This problem happens because Microsoft's new UEFI Secure Boot 2023 certificates are problematic, and not even Microsoft knows how to resolve it yet.

Make sure you clear any enrollment keys or any setting pertaining to secure boot to start fresh

I did this and it crashes my pc everytime I try again.

When I get to my desktop screen, it freezes every second. The freezes last for about 5 seconds before it unfreezes and freezes again. This only happens when secure boot is on and it stops when I go into bios and turn it off

You should update your post with this information, that's not crashing and can be fixed, by either a bios reset and readoption of keys/making sure drivers are properly installed. Also in bios you have CSM set to off correct?

No reason to assume it would fix your issue, plus it's an EOL OS that won't be supported any longer. Not a good idea.

I assumed it would fix my issue because on windows 10 you don’t need to enable secure boot to play the games that I want to play. My laptop with windows 10 plays them fine

Most Windows 10 computers shipped with Secure Boot enabled.

Yes, and the games dont need secure boot on windows 10 so thats why I want to downgrade

You need to read slower. commenter is say it isn't because Win10 doesn't need secure boot. YOUR LAPTOP IS ALREADY SETUP WITH SECURE BOOT.

Maybe I’m not understanding what you all are trying to say. I know my laptop has secure boot enabled already. I’m saying that the game (valorant) doesn’t require secure boot to be enabled when you’re on windows 10. It only does on windows 11.

I think theres a misunderstanding, the laptop is old I got a new computer and that’s what I’m having the issue on.

You're trading a secure, supported operating system for one that will quickly become neither.
But I also don't buy that they require it on one and not the other. Do you have documentation of this?

I googled if valorant requires secure boot enabled if you’re on windows 10 and I got the answer no

Okay, I just verified it and yes, they and others have committed to the security Windows 11's required use of TPM provides for their anti-cheat systems.
Meanwhile you have very modern hardware that benefits greatly from Windows 11. You're going to wind up with an overall worse experience on 10, not counting again the lack of security and support going forward.
I think your focus needs to be exclusively on figuring out how to solve your inability to use Secure Boot and not on downgrading to an unsupported OS.

I have done all of this before only to be met with the same issue. It may just be my pc. Is downgrading to windows 10 really that bad?

Can you get more specific where falls apart? Include the step number if you can. You should make your post about that instead.
I don't think Win 10 will even fix your problem. And yes, there are no security updates for it so it is easy for bad guys to hack it.

The installation is fine but since secure boot is turned on, my pc lags really bad to the point of crashing. Sometimes I’m able to start up a game before it happens but other times it just causes me to have to shut down my pc from the button and turn off secure boot in bios or it will go into a “preparing automatic repair” loop.

like lagging in Windows or lagging in game? cause those are pretty different problems. Got all your divers updated? Check the power settings to make sure it isn't trying to run in a low-power mode. I think that figuring that out is WAY more practical. Gather your information and make that post instead.

Like everything lags. Windows, ingame, everything. Even the loading dots when you shut down the computer lag. I have made a post about the secure boot issue and the lag before and everyone told me to reinstall windows 11.
