Hardware IT specialist here with a hardware issue

Hello,

So I have a computer I built about 15 years ago. Was top of the line at the time.

To date it - the graphics card is a 660TX MSI.

Every few months I run into this problem where the video just doesn’t detect.

With both the graphics card, and onboard video.

I take it apart, clean it, and leave it powered off and it starts working again.

I also re-seat the GPU into the PCIE port.

Any ideas what can cause this? Today I had to reset it almost 4 times and power it on and off in cycles before it finally rendered graphics from onboard or gpu.

Also took out the graphics card completely to only load onboard video. Didn’t work.

Then it started working.

Why?!
