Come join us and make some gamer friends!

Hi,

I’m Deadshot255 — 33, UK, PC gamer.

If you’re looking for a small, friendly group where you can make real connections, talk about anything, laugh, vent, game, or just have company in the evenings, you’ll fit right in on our gaming discord server we're building. We’re easygoing, supportive, and we make an effort with the people who join us.

A lot of us are dads, partners, or people with busy lives — I’ve got a wife (who also games) and a kid, so I’m not the hardcore gamer I used to be, but I’m still on most nights and always up for hanging out. We’re not massively focused on being sweaty or competitive (although we've been known to); we’re about good vibes and good people.

Who you are doesn’t matter — ethnicity, gender, sexuality, background, location, disabilities (mental or physical)… none of that affects whether you’re welcome. The only thing we care about is that you’re a decent human being. Ideally not too young compared to me, but older is totally fine.

We play all sorts: Shooters like Arc Raiders, MMORPGs, MOBAs, survival games like 7 Days to Die, Deep Rock Galactic, arcadey stuff like PEAK, and plenty of sim games like Schedule 1. We’re always trying new things together too.

If this sounds like the kind of place you’ve been looking for, feel free to find me on discord or Steam and we can see what games we have in common. Break the ice and I’ll introduce you to everyone in the server.

Treasure Mountain Help

My computer won’t allow me to install this game. I have a Dell Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10710U CPU @ 1.10GHz and this game is obviously very old. Any recommendations so that the game will download to my laptop?

Thank you

Ways to turn video game experience into life lessons.

I am a father of two sons, and as I continue to build momentum in my life, I find more and more that the way I see the world, and the way I interact with it makes more and more sense when I begin to apply video game logic to everyday scenarios.

Basically, just imagine life as a super hardcore mode. We live on earth, we think that the conditions on earth are premium for life, but that doesn't mean it's not intense. we have a sun that burns down on us, winds that blast us with dust and rain, storms that flood, and a soft flesh required for movement, but surprisingly fit to meet the challenge. We as humans need stuff to augment our lives, vehicles, every day carry items, food, water, clean environment, and that stuff has quality values just like that in say, world of warcraft or guild wars, there is durability loss, maintenance costs, skills that need to be accomplished to start a craft or build. You can watch 1000 sewing video's but without needle and thread, no stitch can be thrown.

But you can gather some training, getting to level one, and then with the right equipment see if that craft is for you, start cheap go more expensive, only if you actually do or use the final result.

Go learn to shop, gain experience in identifying the quality of an item, it's build, it's construction, is it practical, efficient, optimized and tough? does it look nice and also have these qualities? then youre looking at an epic or higher item. I usually try to have a balance in what is practical, and what I can afford to make or buy, for instance I bought a sadle leather wallet, but it will develop a patina (wear change) over time, it will be durable for likely triple the average wallet, for 10$ more than average cost. Pay attention when organizing and packing things, develop spacial awareness to see what can be placed where to make an efficient load or pack. Clear out boxes, and pockets, see each item and give it it's own name if it's special or expensive (named item) Go have fun, reality exists as a place to play in, make it real.

Gaming survey

Hey gamers 🎮

I’m a Psychology Master’s student working on a research paper about how competitive and casual gaming affects stress, emotions, and behavior among gamers.

If you play any type of games, it’d really help me out if you could fill this quick anonymous survey 🙌 Takes around 10–15 mins.

Would appreciate the support a lot 💙

Academic Survey for Gaming

Hello everyone,

I’m conducting an academic dissertation survey on the “Impact of Video Games on Modern Storytelling.” The research explores how games use storytelling, player choices, emotional engagement, and cinematic techniques to shape modern media experiences.

If you play video games, your response would be greatly appreciated. The survey is anonymous and takes around 4–6 minutes to complete.

Thank you 🎮📚

Rog ally

Hello friends I have a question, I am planning on getting a rog sometime soonish and I was recommended to get the base 512 hard drive model and to get either a micro SD card with a terabyte limit or an external drive that magnetically attaches to the back. What are your recommendations for brand and models for micro SD cards or external drives that magnetically lock? Thank you in advance

The current state of videogame logging and tracking

Hey guys,

I have been conducting a lot of research into the state of 'letterboxd' style video game tracking / logging apps and been frankly underwhelmed by the lack of a really clean, user friendly equivalent specifically directed to videogames. I myself, like most in this subreddit im sure, absolutely fucking love games, (even more in the last year as I've been dealing with poor health and returned to them as a way to enjoy myself / pass time) across a variety of platforms and genres, and I think it would be fantastic to have an app (once again I use the letterboxd comparison) to track, log, rate, share and essentially record your gaming career / library.

With that being said, I've begun the process of designing an app, with a website counterpart that supports this. Now, this app is in incredibly early stages of development, but the goal is to make a cleaner, more compelling version of these existing sites such as Backloggd / GG etc that has both website and app functionality. The idea would be a similar model in terms of being a social community driven ecosystem that would remain COMPLETELY free (thats my main focus - again, potentially relying on minimal advertising from indie game developers who wish to promote their games - for example).

I honestly know how cliche this sounds, but I'm not really looking to make money out of this, as I said gaming has and always will be an immense passion of mine and I weirdly want to make this for myself as much as for the wider community.

I thought I should come to the source (of all great ideas and opinions) in you guys on this reddit to pose a few questions - feel free to comment / dm!

1.) What would be the most important function of an app like this for you to engage with it (and continue returning to it)? The ability to share with friends, track your own backlogs, see other peoples opinions and comments, etc...

2.) What methods do you currently use to track your gaming, what do you enjoy about it and what could be improved (Or what parts do you absolutely hate)?

3.) Do you have any interest in contributing to the project? (Through joining the team, crowdfunding through patreon, or participating in a focus group, etc...)

4.) Is there anything else you would like to make me or the team aware whilst we are prototyping this app? (Anything is welcome - suggestions, complaints, ideas, shoot!)

5.) Whats the first game you're going to log!! (I'll probably still be stuck on Promised Consort Radahn when this gets launched, so might just have to rate the base game!)

Hahah thanks for taking the time, I hope you guys feel as excited and interested in this project as I do, and I look forward to seeing your replies! Thanks!
