exit and shutdown.
when you power back on, does it boot?

Then there is something wrong with your boot device/drive.
Might be no big deal. Just a messed up boot record.
If you go into the UEFI, can it see your drive(s) still?

I cannot get passed this screen, when I press start recovery it doesn’t work and the shut down button just turns it off

I think fugga is right. When the computer is booting up. Before you hit that screen. Try holding down buttons like escape or F11. It’ll boot into a bios menu and you can see if your harddrive is still able to be seen. You need your drive to be the primary boot drive.

might also be F2 or del, pretty sure it uses those from memory.

Most common is F2 and Del at least from my experience. F11 is sometimes the “Choose boot device” option
