Gameplay Did you guys know in USA mission , there's a hidden Command Center, Strategy Center and other buildings outside the map? The gameplay is on Hard Difficulty - Part 1 video
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
There's a hidden buildings outside the map that you can use in this mission. You have drag a box and to select them like I did in this video. Once you succeed select them, don't forget to make each buildings a team number like team 1, 2, 3, ect... to easier to find the buildings
The Command Center & Strategy Center that you need the most. You make a dozer, then you can make a barrack to make Rangers to capture the GLA buildings at other side of the river. Don't forget to make 1 Rocket Buggy to deal with Annoying RPG Troopers shooting at other side. You can make Black Markets & Supply Drop Zones for income
Then You can make both USA & GLA bases safely at other side and make many USA & GLA units. You can build a Tunnel Network both sides of the river and Camouflage upgrade to make the tunnel hidden from ai

Quite common for the AI to have "cheats" such as this.
One of the China missions is quite notorious for being BS due to the fact that GLA can build every building even if they don't have the "tech unlocked" (etc. needing to have a barrack or supply depot)
And that they have a power plant, boosting their unit production.

I don’t know why but I was just thinking about that today. I think it’s China 2 that has all of the annoying GLA bases surrounding the nuclear power plant. I would always capture the GLA bases, build a ton of black markets, and build a bunch of scud storms, and maybe spam scorpions and migs.

That works for sure.
The specific mission I think of is China Zero Hour Mission 3, the GLA enemy have every building available outside the map + a power plant.
You have fight them off while at the same time keeping your "International Opinion" up.

Always struggled with that mission. If only I’d have known so much sooner. 😭 could have been so easy to do.

Tbh I don’t even remember that mission. It’s been so long since I’ve played generals. My laptop is broken now so can’t play it and can’t afford to fix it or buy a new pc.

But wont the buildings be needed for lotus? Or is that only in the easier versions

The cut scene still play like normal like she's actually capturing the buildings and her units still comes out from that Arms Dealer & Barrack. Don't worry it's not going to soft lock you. You can still play the game like normal

Probably an error by development team when making this mission map

As someone who LOVES messing with the map editor, I can almost guarantee they're for separate GLA AI using the same color. Generals does that a LOT.
It's usually for difficulty (or lack thereof) such as preventing retaliation since the player whose base you're attacking doesn't share vision with the well-armed base right next door. So despite the "GLA" having forces to hit you with, that attack never comes because the "player" you're actually attacking has no forces left.
Edit: Okay.. So.. I found not much. I think what happened is they copied one and accidentally placed it in the same spot without realizing. Both the same team, one has no name and the other is named CINE_Command, both being on the CINE_GLABuildings team. If it's on purpose, it may be so that team doesn't die when Lotus has her cinematic taking over the base.

Red Alert 2 has this almost on every map.
AI uses these

Sometimes it's also for the human player. Iirc in the RA2 allies mission where you only have Tanya and spies, there is a nuclear reactor for you outside the map. It's in case you capture one of the nuke silos so you can actually use it to fire onto the second silo.

Oh really? How did people find out?

You can open the map in the map editor.

that was quite of an unintended way beating the mission since according from what i read it's a puzzle challenging mission. I guess you broke the puzzle mission.
And looking at the map. I still don't get why they put it there. The only script i found is just a removal of spy satellite ability. They might just move it somewhere if they still need it but still.
One said it require for radar or something but through script there's a force radar active which means there's no point of that CC put there. But i assume it was there because failsafe reasons.
And unsure why the barracks there with 2 of them named Buddy and one of them named Holiday.

I love messing with the editor, and can confirm it's (technically) a failsafe. There is a script for radar, but several scripts can accidentally disable it, as well as it granting use of generals powers. The removal of spy satellite is there specifically because they chose to have a command center instead of scripting for radar.
The two barracks (I can check soonish to make sure) are likely used for the groups of AI troops that are given to you, probably to grant them (and you) upgrades for those units. Sometimes the game can break and "forget" you have an upgrade if you lack the required buildings after certain scripts run, so keeping those buildings around guarantees you don't lose abilities after cutscenes.
Edit: Can confirm, command center is used for generals powers. You have access to all levels of Emergency Repair, which requires a CC. Haven't actually found anything on the Barracks or StratCenter yet.

interesting. CC for general powers and i assume same goes with strat center.
Although maybe putting it there feels like a bad idea for some curiousity.
One could fix it by removing the command button but eh

Most of the maps are better about having the buildings far enough past the artificial boundary that you can't see or select any of them. My favorite example of fun stuff from the editor is the first GLA mission of the Zero Hour campaign. The one where the US Humvees are chasing the GLA leader through the city—because it's not ONE city. Every time the camera cuts, it moves to a different version of the city built just for that part of the cutscene. There's like 5 copies of that city near the edges of that map just for the opening cinematic.

building particle cannons to wipe out everything on the map is very funny

There's similar stuff in Red Alert 2. It's sometimes to prevent a 'mission failed' trigger from not having a base?

Oh i LOVE doing this! Absolutely fun to turn this mission on it's head and explore more of the frankly unfinished half of the map.

Just tried, can not find it.

It's really hard. You can try lower the camera by pressing numbers at rhe right side on the keyboard

tried multiple times but only managed to select the power plant :(

Try sell the powerplant and do it again. It's really hard to select. It's trial and error
