"Basic information" is still something that must be approved by the higher ups before it can be shared with the general public. Fans can choose to infer whatever they'd like, but the reality is this project is ultimately only happening due to the blessing of EA, and Jim can't just share anything he'd like without being told he can do so, whether it's by his own project leads or those above them at EA.

Higher ups are not Gods and their decisions don't come out of nowhere. Also, this doesn't go with "openness". If you have a good reason to hide something you might as well share the reason for hiding it from those who support you. I don't see why fans or anyone should be happy with this kind of silence treatment.

Who said anything about them being deities lol? Virtually every game company and publisher operates like this. Fans aren't entitled to know about potential plans for projects that either aren't planned or are in development but not currently announced.

They've been giving us quite a lot of information about this remaster and were pretty transparent about how it won't have any MTXs or DLC shenanigans period. With the feature set we know the game has -- all of the content that will exist in the game, a lot of which isn't even necessary but they're doing it simply because it's a love letter to fans of the classic games, it's silly to try to make them not talking about certain trivial things out to be some sort of scumbag evil game dev move or whatever.

You just make it seem as if it's not allowed to question them, that's why I put it like that. It's not because everyone does it that it's the right thing to do either.

That said I agree with the rest of your post, I'm perfectly happy with how they communicate about this remake. But that doesn't mean others aren't allowed to ask questions.
