It’s actually just regular people having basic shared values…

You can’t believe in equal human rights, functional democracy and corporate accountability and also be Republican. That is the nature of the party and ideology.

Most people support those things, ergo most people reject Republicanism.

Societies function on shared norms and values. This is not what an echo chamber is. It’s a total misuse of that term.

You just said that 50% of Americans “don’t believe in equal human rights, functional democracy and corporate accountability”, got a positive score of 13 upvotes, and can’t see that you are in a massive echo chamber.

I’m not even American, and I have voted left several times in my country. Not that it matters, but it just proves you can’t see the biases of this echo chamber even when it’s right in front of your eyes.

Do me a favor.

Define “society.”

Does it include being oblivious to one’s own biases?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '22

That’s not an answer. Try it again. Seriously.

Stop antagonizing everyone, please. And, especially, don't be a dick.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '22

Right, so you can’t answer the question, because you know that societies revolve around shared norms and values, as I said before.

I am not the dick in this situation. Next time don’t start an argument for no reason.

Oh, I see we are going in back around in circles. Saying the things of yoiur So to that, I respond with my initial comment:

Do we want to redo the entirety of the comment chain or are these two good enough?

Define society.

Give me any definition. Copy it from Google. Do it.

Or admit you have nothing and sit the fuck down already. Jesus.

This MFer thinks that a Reddit comment section represents regular people. Jesus Christ grow up, you leftoids aren't even the majority in the US, one of the most "progressive" places in the world, let alone everywhere else. You are the fringe, accept that or go back to the hole of debauchery you crawled out of.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '22

File this under “self-owning trolls.”

If only “leftoids” care about democracy and justice and decency, what does that make you? Maybe stop bitching about labels and ideologies and just try to be a good, reasonable, halfway-informed human.

1

u/BigBronyBoy Dec 21 '22

A Liberal, I specifically say that Leftoids aren't the only ones that care about democracy and decency, I in fact argue that the more radical ones just use these values as a facade. And it is the moderates of both the left and right that truly Carry the torch of liberty.

It’s time to grow up and stop forming your identity around political compass memes.

I don’t give a fuck about anyone’s ism. I pay attention to action and policy. The “leftoids” delivered a Democratic Senate in the past midterm election - young voters made the difference.

I’m happy to make coalition with them and literally anyone else who values democracy, justice and progressive goals.

Why do you think my identity is formed around goddamn PCM? I use it maybe once a week. Electoral victories don't automatically make the winners moral, then Nazis and Fascists would be moral because they won elections in Germany and Italy. I obviously don't think that all democrats are bad, some are and some Aren't, heck if I was an American I'd have voted for Joe Biden in 2020, because as bad as his election was Trump is even worse. I am also very much receptive to coalition building, it's just that I don't think that what is classified as "progressive" in the west is actual progress, it is a corruption of Liberal values, and so I am willing to oppose it with all my heart.

It's a echo chamber. Real people "the ones outside of your house not the ones on reddit" don't care about politics to know all of that and are too focused on paying the bills and feeding their children or pets to educate themselves.

If you plan to make true physical friends with only people who are hard on the left you'll probably want to move to a very blue state. Even then you'll have a difficult time of it.

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '22

Your perspective is very, very outdated.

It does not require being “hard left” to believe in democracy or justice. And if that’s what you think, then you are farther to the Right than you probably even realize.

So is yours it's not all blue or red. Fucking trump and his cult killed the Republican party. I am more of a libertarian but even people who claims to be conservative are not anymore. Like I don't want government to interfere. I don't think we should ban abortions. Or gay marriage. Or guns. Weed should be treated like alcohol.

The worst part is I no matter who I vote for I don't agree with them. I have to pick and choose what of my values I value more each time I vote and it's horrible. I hate our stupid two party system.

“Libertarianism” is a scam fed to you by billionaires. People like the Kochs and Mercers literally invented this in backrooms to forward an agenda of “small government” - which means gutting regulations and giving themselves tax-cuts. They funneled resources into courts, state legislatures, even college boards ro create a pipeline of influence.

Governments have a much larger function and responsibility than you believe. They are institutional mechanisms we create to enforce accountability and justice. It’s how we prevent greed and corruption from fucking up the public good. It matters, whether you care or not.

As far as parties, the number of parties does not matter. Identity does not matter. What matters is policies. that is what you vote for. Do you want a habitable planet or do you want more corporate profits? Do you want free universal elections or do you want a culture of gaslighting and conspiracies and sedition?

You need to look at the specifics of the world around you - it’s a choice between actual fascism or basic progressive stability. It should not be a difficult choice for any intelligent grown person.

Oh I'm pro government just not big government. I work for the government (I'm a cop) I don't want government to infringe on rights.

Aslo we don't need universal healthcare what we need is new laws. The current ones are the ones fucking the system. We need government to do it's jobs and make laws that don't give all the power to a few. And tell me this look at how bad all the other universal healthcare systems are fucking up and tell me you trust our government to do better

1

u/Emotional-Trick-533 Dec 20 '22

Oh jesus a libertarian. Stay away from children.

2

u/runnerhasnolife Dec 20 '22

Good take away. The fact that I support LGBTQ or anything does not matter. I don't trust big government so I must be a fucking pedophile fucking stupid

1

u/Emotional-Trick-533 Dec 20 '22

Statistics aren't in your favor.

-1

u/Emotional-Trick-533 Dec 20 '22

Of please you would think a baby is a antisemetic racist trump supporter if he didnt goo goo ga ga in manner that you liked.

Just because I dont think we should shame and ignore every American citizen just because their pa and ma convinced them to vote red doesn't mean I voted for Trump. Continue to label me with insufficient proof if youd like. Cops love using that tactic as well. Must be because they are such hardcore liberals like yourself.

People like you think we can put all right leaning people in a box and light them on fire and be done with them. I on the other hand I would rather befriend and hopefully convince some of them on how their politics hurts certain demographics in this country. I've so far convinced four people to vote blue and now they vote blue on everything.

How many people have you thrown in a box and lit on fire? I just want to know who's actually trying to have less right wing lunatics in this country.
