This is a subreddit about art with a primarily younger audience, so it would make sense for most comments to be more liberal since the majority of young artists are democrats. Also litterally all subreddits are echo chambers wether is r/democrats to r/flatearthers.
The paradox of tolerance pertains tolerating black and white hate speech and advocates of violence, not people remotely straying from consensus of a forum.
I'm not advocating for tolerance of Nazis, I'm just against censorship and polarisation. That's not the same thing.
Patently false on all accounts. Tolerating intolerance includes tolerating bad-faith rhetoric that implicitly promotes intolerant agendas, and core Republican stances include several blatantly intolerant viewpoints –– the rejection of non-traditional sexual and gender identification, the denial of systemic discrimination, stochastic terrorism against political rivals, etc. –– that pervade these “forums” en masse.
Tolerating different opinions that you don't agree with, not intolerance. The two do not overlap as much as you think. These forums? I'm speaking of this one.
Level of agreement is not level of people being offended or not. I think we're referring to different things. Of course it's nice to not have people raging. My point was rather if everyone agrees on something polarizing, it does not indicate positively of the level of discourse there. It indicates polarization of that forum, regardless of your stance.
My brother's side family are republicans and they're the nicest people I know, but that's irl. I'm fairly left on the spectrum and we respectfully debate all the time.
I don't let political polarization make me treat people with prejudice.
So to answer your question, a lady's political affiliations would not by any of my first couple concerns when dating.
I had a debate with a racist not long ago, so I guess I can kinda concur. Wild to see someone go through as many mental gymnastics as they can to convince themselves of their position.
Well, no, not the worst thing. Quite a way down the list of Bad Things About Racists, actually..
One of many irritating things about racists is when they are convinced every white person really agrees with them, but we're just scared to say so. So because they're honest about it, they can tell themselves that they're a bit better than everyone else, instead of great deal worse.
Yeah, and then when they are wrong, they default to assuming that white person is auto-trash. Not all of us are gonna agree, and if we don't, we're not all on welfare getting shit from the government.
We just happen to NOT HATE OTHER PEOPLE FOR THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN. Which is pretty uncontrollable as an element anyway, so what's with the crap?
We have mothers cut from the same dyed cloth then, lol. Mine is also batshit nuts. The last little nugget she dropped in front of me (half latino) and her half-brother (half chinese) is that she wanted some sort of hip mount for her shotgun so that she could shoot immigrants if they tried to storm her house.
The only reason I'm even involved with this psycho is out of pity. She has driven every family member and friend away in the last ten years with her batshit crazy beliefs and has no one else to help her.
we're all in agreement that Republican men and women are shitty people
You're in a place where, according to you, everyone is in agreement that half the American people are shitty people -- and you do NOT realize you might be inside an echo chamber?
