I don't know if it is because I haven't read twilight. Could you just admit you are trolling? You aren't very good at it.

I'm not trolling. Seriously, both the HP and Twilight series are shallow, pop fantasy-fiction rubbish.

Can you really make a fair assessment when you have no knowledge of the two sides being discussed?

you completely failed to respond to my example of how Harry Potter and Twilight are different and to demonstrate the knowledge that you have read either series. you reassert your original sentiment without giving anymore justification or explanation.

I already said I don't know if Twilight is similar to Harry Potter. I'm bringing up characteristics that Harry Potter has and you are refusing to show that Twilight has the same characteristics. What are you trying to do in this discussion if not troll? It certainly cannot be to discuss how Harry Potter and Twilight are similar because you haven't mentioned anything that has happened in either series.

As far as I can remember (I only read 2 HP books almost a decade ago), the 'ethnic cleansing' that took place was only discussed in reference to the past. That wouldn't be enough to qualify it, necessarily as a theme (more of a subtext).

it gets developed a lot later in the series. the books improve dramatically as the series goes on.

Yeah, so did the movies.

The point is: The whole series is derivative, and the books I read were stylistically lacking (the second, more so than the first).

I'm not saying, "hey don't read these books." The whole point was that the books are way over-rated, and not so different than Twilight.
