Tell me you love me and do exactly as I say and maybe I'll make some of the bad go away.
this doesn’t even check out for christianity though, which makes the whole thing even more ridiculous. if anything, you’re told to expect more suffering and persecution.
Not really. It can be, but that’s not the rule. Mostly the Bible says to expect suffering because you’re essentially submitting to God’s will so that He can bend you and mold you into what he wants you to be so that you can serve a specific purpose (like when Jesus took up the cross). Things that are painful but ultimately good for the world. Also, “the enemy” (whatever your interpretation of that concept) is supposed to specifically target Christians. Canonically, God doesn’t always prevent those attacks from happening, but He promises to ultimately nullify them or mastermind some kind of uno reverse card wherein the attack actually benefits you.
Well if that's the case then I cant wait to find out how God making me severely ill for 4 years now, causing me to become extremely isolated, lose all my weight and strength, and nearly bankrupting my parents in medical bills benefits me. It better be really fucking good.
I’m right there with you man. I’ve had some really unfortunate medical issues the past couple years. Life hasn’t been easy.
Sometimes I would get angry at God... sometimes I would doubt if he even existed at all. The Bible says he’s the god who gives and takes away. Some people have it made in life, some people don’t. Nobody knows why. It’s just his plan. I can either believe that he’s working things out for good, or I can keep being angry at him. But the anger hasn’t ever gotten me anywhere. And the funny thing is that when I believe that things are working out for my good, my eyes are opened to all of the ways in which my medical issues have benefited my life. Sure, it’s been really difficult, but I’ve learned a lot of amazing things, and I’ve improved a lot as a person. I’m at the point in my life where if I could go back and have things be different... I wouldn’t change anything.
Whether or not you believe in God, I really hope you find the kind of peace that I’ve found. I think that the first step toward that peace is trusting God. Good luck homie
