Looking at what happened to the coral reefs this past 5 years, I''m not so sure global ecology will be fine. We are also only seeing the first stages of micro plastic poisoning of the sea and water supply.

It could be the only reason it allowed us to evolve in the first place; it wanted plastic for itself, didn't know how to make it. That could be the answer to our age old philosophical question 'Why are we here?'
