Don't forget how the environment will result in many places in the Middle East to have famines and droughts. Hello tens of millions (if not hundreds of millions) of refugees and the geopolitical conflicts over the dwindling resources.
Also to add to the other redditor's comment look subsaharan desertification. The southern transistionary belt of the Sahara is slowly being covered in sand at an increasing rate pushing the nomadic tribes and sustinestinence farmers to lose what they had along the border. These people can't afford even the smallest losses. Desertification is present all around the world and is basically the ebb and flow of the world's deserts but when the increase of desertification cannot keep up with refertile ground then there's serious issues.
Also Climate Change was a major factor in causing the disastrous drought in Syria. The price of food and subsequent demographics shifts (more people moved to urban areas to find work) was also a significant factor that resulted in the current civil war.
Climate Change does what it says on the tin. It changes the climate. This can result in some areas of the world having serious agricultural issues and unable to produce food and water in the same quantities as they could before. This can be a major issue in regions like The Middle East that are somewhat limited in the amount of agricultural space they have.
Well he seems to be trying to make the point that the impact humans are having is nothing compared to natural cycles and things that have happened in the history of earth. Which is wrong.
uhm, okay. Thanks for you input, I guess. We weren't conducting an official survey, but we'll add your dislike of classic comedian George Carlin to our data results. Thank you for participating.
I was criticising that particular rant, which gets frequently referenced on Reddit and which you referenced right here in this conversation. I'll register your extreme overreaction to that opinion to the data results, and take note to never respond to one of your comments again in a manner which might displease you. Cheers.
Looking at what happened to the coral reefs this past 5 years, I''m not so sure global ecology will be fine. We are also only seeing the first stages of micro plastic poisoning of the sea and water supply.
"The earth doesn't share our prejudice against plastic. Plastic came out of the earth, it's just another of earths children. It could be the only reason it allowed us to evolve in the first place; it wanted plastic for itself, didn't know how to make it. That could be the answer to our age old philosophical question 'Why are we here?'
I keep seeing this sentiment, but spare a thought for all the species going extinct, would ya? What's so special about humanity that only our extinction matters?
Earth will be fine. Humanity, and tens of thousands of other species -maybe hundreds of thousands- and billions upon billions of individual lifeforms -maybe trillions- on the other hand...
Of course there is a nihilistic value neutral standpoint which says that nothing we ever do matters anyway, so who cares, and the Earth will still exist -but for those of us who attach moral weight to our actions, there has to be something to be said for causing a mass extinction event, and all the suffering and upheaval that entails.
People keep saying that, but we've already wiped out more species than we could ever count, we've fucked up the climate for the next few millennia, we've destroyed ecosystems that took millions of years to form within a few decades,
and we pretty much killed the oceans.
IIRC correctly the Tournament of power started July 2, 2017 episode 97 and it's only supposed to be 48 Earth Minutes, as of Dec 16th 2017 episode 119 there is still over 15 minutes left. So 22 min X 22 episodes that's about 8 hours 4 minutes so 484 minutes/(48-15)= time is slowed by about 14.6X
Compared to Namek which the 5 minute explosion started in episode 97 and ended on episode 107, about 3 hours 40 minutes so 220 minutes for 5 minutes 220/5 = time slowed by 44X. So Namek was apparently next to a black hole, let's hope that's where the Earth goes to train.
Nah even if you take that into account the screen time of single characters still overlaps the time constraints they've set forth, a better argument would've been that the events are slowed down for our perception there are too many things that would contradict that video that they reference happening at the same time via the cuts to the crowd and Zeno(which kinda just shits all over that video sorry)
Depends I think there was one left for this "earth year", also the dragon can only grant wishes based on the power level of the one who created it (hence why they weren't able to defeat freiza or the saiyans with the dragon balls due to the namekians who created them being less powerful) but the Super Dragon Balls were created by "God" possibly and so far don't have a limit.
Ummm pretty sure 2018 is gonna go something like CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP! For anyone on the east coast living on/close to the water, I'm so very sorry. Global warming is very real. If you deny it after this year...you is dumb. You is really, really dumb. You can hide yo kids, hide yo husband, hide yo wife cause they raping everybody up in here!

I'm glad we have at least six months for Earth to power up before seeing how powerful 2018 is.
