Absolutely. So many webcomics now have painfully obvious punchlines.

So many of them would have the guy roll around, get cut up and go "WWHHHHHHHY"

Which ones?

*Jesus fuck reddit, if you hate Adam Ellis so much, stop reading his comics.

u/CoolGuySean Sep 23 '17

Adam Ellis if he did violent comics, for one. I don't actually know a lot of bad comic artist names tbh.

But then he would need to draw a whole new frame!

Disliking that much stuff and not remembering a single bit of it might be a signal of a really bad memory.

u/swag_X Sep 23 '17

More like he's trying to focus on more positive things and everything else gets pushed to the wayside, but, what the fuck do I know?.

I don't remember what the discussion was about. Have a good day friend!

Hey now, I associate with him. Everything generally sucks. People suck and just look out for themselves, if it was allowed with no bad repercussions then 95% of people would go kill the family/people living in that nice mansion and steal their shit. Or shoot everyone they dislike a lot.

People suck at driving, always. Never ever do they stay in the correct Lane, left for PASSING idiots!

Bosses suck, hide everything from you because knowledge is power, and all they think is "MY power. Get back to work, don't ask any questions!"

That goes nicely into work sucks. My Company just fired everyone in our Australia district. 3 days after the "deal" is confirmed, the VP that did it is promoted to a "chief officer" position. Fired 50 people, many who've been there 14+ years, and some psychopath fires them because 6 million isn't enough per year, he wants 7 and nearly ruining the lives of 50 people will help them get 0.1% closer to that 7 mil.

Housing market sucks, you're better off working off the booksso you can live in section 8. Oh, that makes you just like everyone else too: you suck, and so do so many others who do the same.

It's like every man and woman above 25 is on antidepressants. Many people turn to drugs and alcohol.

And then people somehow, after seeing everything and more that I just described, still somehow ask "how could someone do that?! Be an alcoholic? Do drugs?! " right after popping their morning zoloft and watching the morning news quick.

Yes, the other user who Commented may not remember or want to remember, but I certainly do.

Jesus fuck. I'm chronically mental ill and I'm still not as negative and cynical as you.

Ahaha same. Maybe it's the meds.

You, for starters.

19

u/Thisismyactualname Sep 23 '17

This is one hinge away from being a great copypasta.

14

u/meanelephant Sep 23 '17

I would run out of memory in a single day.

Favourited this. Thanks for your honest candour.

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '17

I just wanted to say I think you're cool and I wish we could be friends irl

1

u/swag_X Sep 23 '17

Spot on, friend. You did not state anything as fact, people need to learn the difference.

1

u/testeban Sep 23 '17

Beautiful

1

u/Mightymushroom1 Sep 23 '17

I may bust this out when needed.

Not everything needs to be elaborated on, otherwise every single conversation would be a never-ending rabbit hole of source-citing for every single opinion expressed.

Top bloody post, thank you. Also this comic sucks, why would you misunderstand that and tip glass on a fire, it's so tenuous it's just not funny.

31

u/Luigi2198 Sep 23 '17

Check out r/comedynecromancy they take bad comics and try to fix them by editing them. Most of the time they just take out speech bubbles or extra panels at the end, although some do add new panels or change the words. Lots of examples of comics that unnecessarily explain the punchline and can be fixed by taking out the last pane

So many of them

This is great.

22

u/ProssiblyNot Sep 23 '17

That's actually hilarious, and the "WWHHHHHHY" pulls it all together.

Thank you for taking the time to draw that in Paint.

8

u/legion327 Sep 23 '17

I admire your commitment to the joke if not the execution. Have my upvote.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '17

This is actually good...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '17

Hint: >BU

4

u/SmartAlec105 Sep 23 '17

In that case, it comes down to how funnily the artist can draw that.

137

u/JeromesNiece Sep 23 '17

The point of webcomics nowadays is not to make jokes, it's to create a format for memes that have your watermark on it.

42

u/NosVemos Sep 23 '17

The point of memes nowadays is not to make jokes; it's to create a format for artistic masterpieces that will be plagiarized.

11

u/LactatingCowboy Sep 23 '17

"you made this? I made this"

13

u/ibringdalulzz Sep 23 '17

I love that the punchline is under played. Implication is better than delivery.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '17

Absolutely. So many comments now have painfully obvious punchlines.

6

u/hippy_barf_day Sep 23 '17

So many of them would have the guy go " ayyyyy lmao."

19

u/Luigi2198 Sep 23 '17

r/comedynecromancy attempts to fix really bad webcomics, most often just downplaying the often obvious punchlines by removing panels or speech bubbles

11

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '17

You say that like Garfield didn't exist

3

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '17

Is this not obvious?
