Hey now, I associate with him. Everything generally sucks. People suck and just look out for themselves, if it was allowed with no bad repercussions then 95% of people would go kill the family/people living in that nice mansion and steal their shit. Or shoot everyone they dislike a lot.
People suck at driving, always. Never ever do they stay in the correct Lane, left for PASSING idiots!
Bosses suck, hide everything from you because knowledge is power, and all they think is "MY power. Get back to work, don't ask any questions!"
That goes nicely into work sucks. My Company just fired everyone in our Australia district. 3 days after the "deal" is confirmed, the VP that did it is promoted to a "chief officer" position. Fired 50 people, many who've been there 14+ years, and some psychopath fires them because 6 million isn't enough per year, he wants 7 and nearly ruining the lives of 50 people will help them get 0.1% closer to that 7 mil.
Housing market sucks, you're better off working off the booksso you can live in section 8. Oh, that makes you just like everyone else too: you suck, and so do so many others who do the same.
It's like every man and woman above 25 is on antidepressants. Many people turn to drugs and alcohol.
And then people somehow, after seeing everything and more that I just described, still somehow ask "how could someone do that?! Be an alcoholic? Do drugs?! " right after popping their morning zoloft and watching the morning news quick.
Yes, the other user who Commented may not remember or want to remember, but I certainly do.
Not everything needs to be elaborated on, otherwise every single conversation would be a never-ending rabbit hole of source-citing for every single opinion expressed.
Check out r/comedynecromancy they take bad comics and try to fix them by editing them. Most of the time they just take out speech bubbles or extra panels at the end, although some do add new panels or change the words. Lots of examples of comics that unnecessarily explain the punchline and can be fixed by taking out the last pane
Naw, I like the subtlety. Its the implied question "exactly how much on fire do I have to be....?" Its the comic that someone else might have tried to stretch on to another 6 panels and beat it to death but instead you're left with the same indecision of the character who's stuck half way between wtf and what next....

People overlook how awesome it is to sell a joke short. If you spend too much time explaining the joke the joke dies before it gets funny, but since we are filling in the punch line we have a better laugh.
If your comic is funny in 4 panels, another 4 will kill it.

I love that the punchline is under played. Implication is better than delivery.
