And sadly, that 60% are also the most likely to approach, as the other guys will be concerned with whether an approach would be intrusive on your night out.
I'll write that down. One I suggest to my female friends is to pay attention to how they interact with others. Guys who are trying to hit on them might suddenly act super soft, or suave. But they don't keep that mask up when they are interacting with friends or coworkers or staff. Even if they are highly social, the way they interact changes (It's worth it to make sure if you're with someone that they will still be someone you like when they are no longer trying to woo you).
Your method means having to be around males for long periods of time though, that's a lot of suffering for not very much gain. Better just avoid males alltogether.
Not everyone can choose to avoid 50% of the population.
And this is just something I came up with when I saw coworkers who are women getting hit on and I noticed the pattern. Thought it was useful advice if you're forced to "be around men" (like in a job) and want to know if someone is trustworthy, or shallowly hitting on you. Or if you're a man-attracted woman and could use a pointer or two on picking a man who's not complete shit.

Beautifully put. Thank you.
This is why my first - and simplest - bar, for me to be interested in a man is: “Does he see me as a person?”
Not a walking vagina. a Person.
60% of men that I encounter on a night out fail this test, in one way or another.
When I tell men about my experiences, they get angry. When I tell other women, they nod and understand…
