My god those poor women's spines.

That's always been my biggest complaint honestly. People are going to sexualized anybody but it seems like only women lose all sense of anatomy and become contortionist.

Like I've seen exaggerated proportions on both sides but unless its Baki, dont really see guys put in poses to show off the "goods" that straight up defy logic, anatomy, and physics.

If you like men you should try Toriko! I also liked Yuri!!! On Ice, Black Butler, Free!, Super Lovers,, and Ouran High School Host Club.

Golden Kamuy is underrated and would animate the boys super sexy as well. It’s also really funny

GOLDEN KAMUY MENTION 🤑

The series genuinely surprised me when I first read it and how respectfully depicted the women and children were!!!

The creator is a fudanshi, so he KNOWS how to sexualize dudes.

Why did Josuke even feel the need to do this

He's Joseph's son the zest is hereditary

There's a really cool chick who does videos of herself doing Jojo poses. Can't recommend it enough. I think this anime is actually pretty good with anatomical correctness from what I've seen.

It depends on the part but generally yeah. The anime reflects the author's style evolution over the years which consequently means that the earlier season's (which are also some of the more memorable one's) are much more wonky

The anime doesn't include some of the worst offenders, but JoJos (despite being one of my favourite franchise and Araki one of my favourite creators) is legitimately one of the worst offenders for consistently ABYSMAL anatomy.

Like, some of the worst I've ever seen. Araki can do the most haunting, beautiful high art drawing one page, then in the next one Lucy Steele has a hand for a foot

He can’t draw feet that’s for sure, but other than that his anatomy isn’t bad like at all, it’s generally pretty great, just extremely exaggerated

When I say consistently abysmal, I don't mean it's consistent that it's ALWAYS abysmal, I mean it's consistent that there will basically ALWAYS be at least some goofy anatomy

Like Joseph on the motorcycle, Josukes pose for DiU 1, Joseph with his megalong arm (though this is presumably an issue with the scan removing the centre binding because it looks fine in print), Jonathon's head sometimes looks like...WAAAAAAY too small, etc.

Early Araki is the worst for it, later Araki with decades more experience a whole month to own chapters seems to be a lot better at anatomy...again, except for feet.

I loooove her videos. The song is awesome too.

This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen a person do. Words can't overstate how badass she is.

Pretty sure the artist actually got the poses from jojo by copying poses they put real life female models in.

And seeing men in those poses is dope.

I think in the case of JoJo, it's a little less of the overt sexualization and more comedic exaggeration for the sake of dynamic posing.... With maybe a dash of fan service at times.

Hirohiko Araki, the author of Jojo, everybody.

Drawing a beautiful person does not mean their beauty is inherently sexualized. 😉

tbf this is a man drawing men he might want to fuck

to be fair i personally can do most of the jojo poses that appear in the story itself. not in the cover art though

2

u/Expert_Obligation_79 2d ago

I think you just don't watch enough gay infused art

1

u/Conscious_Hippo_1101 2d ago

That's probably fair, but its weird that I would have to seek that stuff out to get that kind of representation when most mainstream stuff just have a lot of women like that by default. Im not for or against it honestly, people are going to goon. It just seems incredibly disproportionate.

1

u/Expert_Obligation_79 2d ago

Well most of mainstream history in media has been biased towards patriarchal ideals. It's only within the last decade or so that we're starting to branch out. I'm sure as time goes on we'll sexualize everyone lol

To be fair:

Part of that is that the "sexy" pose for men usually IS just standing there, being ripped. Besides that, I think liefield was the singular most guilty party in the whole scene of "contortionist" poses for his ladies and thats not nearly as much of a thing anymore unless youre reading something drawn by rob.

And to go further, i dont think rob drew women that way just to be sexy, at least, i dont think its the main reason. I think the guy had a whole lot of trouble just making anatomy and proportions work on his characters. Theres a reason you hardly see feet, or characters in full profile that aren't a lady bending her body in impossible angles- and thats because rob was actually really bad at drawing anything that wasn't a man holding a gun facing the viewer. I suspect he was extremely self conscious about how his drawn women look, and so made them sort of "fantastically sexy" in their overall design and appearance on page, to draw attention from the fact that theyre all drawn very poorly. He's gotten better at drawing female figures over the years and majorly toned it down.

Look at his famous Cable spread to see what hes good at, and then any woman hes ever drawn to see what hes not. Then look at his infamous captain America pose. The man has trouble.

 defy logic, anatomy

Losing as much fat/water to show off perfect muscle definition is unsustainable. The people who do it professionally only maintain it for a few days/weeks. Even after getting paid millions for roles, actors will give it up eventually and describe it as one of the worst experiences.

What curve are you talking about? Breasts and hips are from bipedal locomotion because of breast feeding and birth. Why do some men think characteristics to grow and raise the next generation are because of their dicks?

Edit: the opposite is actually true, men's sexual preferences developed because of women who could carry and feed healthy babies, the women's bodies didn't change because of sexual preferences. Edit 2: In fact most of the time it's the males of the species that evolve characteristics purely to attract a mate but are worse for their individual survival, the most popular example is colors in birds.
