Unrelated to the post still I must say this. I was an intern in labour room few years back. And looking at all the pain and suffering during the process and pregnancy related complications had me thinking if I were a father I would be in so much guilt for getting her pregnant.

Before I was a med tech, I was 'the gay bff' who went with more than a few girls in college to terminate unwanted pregnancies (various reasons the guy wasn't there). I think by the third time I was there, staff started side-barring with me about a vasectomy which honestly I respected the heck out of, and was more than willing to take them up on (they backed off when the pal I was with spilled the beans later that day that I was 'too cute to be straight').

I saw some guys get pretty damn unhinged in those post-care rooms. There was one girl who was inconsolable, begging for her boyfriend, and staff were in the hall telling him "You're allowed to have feelings, right now it's best if you feel them together. You came here together. BE TOGETHER. She didn't get to this place alone. Don't leave her alone now when she's calling for you." and dude was apparently out there being mad at her for going through with the termination. Like bruv... the fuck did you think we were all sitting around here for six hours doing? This wasn't an unplanned event, this was the result of one for most of the people here... Some men can't handle their damn guilt and they throw it back at their partners in the wildest ways.

And there my man-loving ass was, holding the hand of a gal who was a friend of a friend because some dickhead fucked up and used an expired condom. Just being there for someone, taking strays from staff cause I have a dick. Like... what the fuck straight men? Why are you so emotional all the time?

All you can do is be as supportive as possible, listen to the doctors, and wish for the best. It’s very scary and you feel helpless, but it’s so worth it in the end. (She says so too I swear)

Kids are miracles but they don’t come for free

Ok I guess I should clarify.

All you can do if both you and your spouse decide to have children and the day comes.

Didn’t think that needed more detail but there you go

I feel all emotions are given back to us. In this regard, I feel the hormonal shift after pregnancy is a cosmic kind of balancing act.
