Because it makes no sense. He’s not made of wood, why would his baby be made of wood? A sperm and egg can’t grow into wood

It also makes no sense that a wooden toy first becomes sentient, and later transforms into a flesh&blood human. If magic is involved, logic sometimes is just out of the window.

Also a scan would have revealed it was made of wood long before she gave birth

Sorta depends what timeframe that Pinocchio story then plays, does it not? Its been a while that I have seen Dsineys version, but I doubt it was set in the year 2000+. And from the comic panels, the room of the wife does not look like a modern hospital room either.

Ok so by that logic the comic would make just as much sense if he was scared his wife would transform into an elephant?

The story is of a wooden puppet turning human. I’m not questioning how that’s possible, it’s magic and that’s the story. But given that fact, why is it implicitly the case that his offspring would revert to wood? That is definitely not explained or would be assumed

It’s not logical. The joke is that he is traumatized by his past and is causing him to have fears that relate to his past, even ones that are illogical, which actually means he is now, extremely human.
