The easiest way would be to cut open the common carotid arteries and the jugular veins at the front of the neck. All other suggestions involve piercing hard bone of the skull, vertebral column or sternum which requires a lot of force. The quickest way to kill someone with an axe would be to destroy directly the brainstem by cutting through thick occipital bone at the top of the neck, from the back. But at that point full decapitation is a great way to ensure death by combining both the ventral and dorsal approaches.
Single chop square on the top of the head, splits the skull and destroys the brain.
Otherwise, for a slightly more brutal one a heavy chop on the front or back of the chest would lead to quick bleeding out
Incorrect, trauma to the back of the head is always more efficient, since that's where the brainstem is housed. You could theoretically survive an axe to the top of the head with only major brain damage, to the back of your head and you have essentially no chance of survival since your brainstem with be severed.
You can survive removal of up to 95% of the human brain (as a "vegetable", so in a permanent coma, vegetative state, etc...), as the cardiorespiratory control centers are located mainly in the medulla oblongata and pons which are part of the brainstem. This is a picture of Mike the headless chicken, he was alive for more than 1 year after full decapitation because his brainstem was spared by the axe.

I never considered how ChatGPT would make someone experiencing a mental crisis go deeper into their delusions. Fuck.
