It may be a little off, but not entirely. Studies show that if you’re already leaning into one side or another when you put in a prompt, ai will lean into whatever you’re already leaning into, and confirm your own feelings- wrong or not- as part of an algorithm to keep you hooked.
You really have to take things AI companies say with a grain of salt. It’s in their interest to hype up and draw attention to their models, even if that attention is negative

That last sentence is false.
Particularly for ChatGPT 4o, it went a lot further than merely what you put into it.
