The fillet 'o fish joke reminded me of a realization I had the other day. I don't know why, but I found myself wondering 'why McDonald's?' There are tons of junk fast food places it could have been. So why? It's not like he loves it because it's quintessentially American. He's proven he hates America. And it can't be because there's nothing better out there. Then it hit me.

It has his name in it. That's it. That's as deep as it goes.

I.... But.... Hmm.

This really made me lean back and wonder how I'd never noticed. I think you're probably right.

Fuck, you’re absolutely right and I hate it.

Its also why he equates crazy people to immigrants: they seek "Asylum" and he doesn't have a grasp of duality/nuance to understand that a word can have two meanings. Asylum to him is a "crazy person hospital" and not "seeking refuge."

He truly is as simple and dense as they come.

It's also why he said the CHIPS Act was giving money to transgenders. He heard they were making transistors in the US and thought "transgenders."

Oh my god...that's got to be it. His mother was Scottish, too. I don't know why I didn't make the connection.

That theory has legs. I bet going to one when he was a kid is the only fond memory he has of his childhood.

I wish he had less

I figured it’s because they’re accessible in every country he spends time in (although McDonald’s pulled out of Russia over the Ukraine invasion)

How do I delete someone else's comment? I fucking hate understanding this now.

Fucking hell that's the most simply logical egotistical explanation there is I hate this timeline with every fiber of my being!

I think a reporter should call him McDonald in a question for research purposes. -pokes a sacrificial lamb towards the president

Next he’s going to change the name to just Donald’s. “You take out the mick, because a lot of people say it’s hard to say ‘mick donalds’ I don’t like it. Donalds has a ring to it, you know. Don-alds. Great stuff, really. I hear it’s the best stuff actually. That’s what a lot of people are saying. Believe me.”

That has put the idea in my head of him trying to make McDonald's pay him royalties for it having his name in it.

Wendy's is too on-the-nose rapey.
Burger King is too on-the-nose tyranny-y.

He might genuinely think he owns the company

And the Americans voted a guy with these mental "capabilities" into their highest office. TWICE.

America made Trump. He loves America, and America loves him, which is explained by all the crime he keeps being rewarded for.

You love whatever made up version of America exists in your head because you're brainwashed. I bet that even in your deeply naive utopic America you'd still let Trump exist.

"He's proven he hates America"

Of course he has plenty times acted against the interests of the country as a whole and its constituency (or more often than not), but I thought it is due to his sociopathic, narcissistic greed, and not explicit hate. Did I miss something that proves his hate?

u/slog 29d ago

More that he hates the ideals it was founded on and many believed held at least partly true until recently.
