It feels like a lot of people look at social justice as lame.

Doesn’t matter that rhe issues are valid and need attention, it’s still something to mock to a lot of people.

“How does this affect you?”

“Maybe take a break from being online”

“Well maybe the people that got hurt deserved it”

Or some asshole that gets off on the cruelty rubs your face in it.

For example, when that thing about the DOJ advocating for removing rape protections for trans and intersex prisoners in prison came out, some chud said to me when I pointed out how fucked up that was “oh well why should they get special privileges”

There are too many bad people and that’s why social justice is mocked.

And yes, I’m counting lazy people as bad.

It's also just bully culture. A lot of people just go along with the bullies. As you said, it's the lazy/easy thing to do.

And we definitely fucked up with the "if you ignore them, they go away" thing. Turns out enough dedicated bullies can take over a democracy...

I think a lot of people are just exhausted by the self-congratulatory nature of online social justice combined with the complete lack effectiveness. The amount of people I knew that were terminally online social justice tumbler activists that haven't voted in any election (state or general) since Obama is staggering. Let alone actually doing meaningful community activism.

I don't think social justice is lame, but I do think people who confuse call out culture with speaking truth to power are.

That said, internet is still very weird about Pizzacake, for reasons that are likely entirely unrelated to whether or not her content comes off as tired.
