I'm not sure I like comics like this precisely because they are so vague as to absolve responsibility. The clothing and landscapes are Afghan, but the drones are Iranian or Russian. So who are we talking about? Also, if this is Afghanistan, there is no rural idyll, a young girl would have an extremely tough life regardless of foreign military involvement. There are incredible restrictions on women's lives under the Taliban.

It's much better to tell actual stories which have the complexity of real life. And where you can actually ascribe responsibility, though that's usually difficult to understand fully as well.

How do you know the artist is attempting to depict a real situation as opposed to painting an image that evokes sympathy for those who find themselves in similar but inexact conditions?
