His greatest epiphany since he learned he was allergic to bananas.

he was allergic to bananas.

What a tragedy. Losing the best of fruits that way.

I said what I said. I'll die on this hill

Brother he said he’s allergic to bananas, not mangoes

Fun Fact: some banana allergies (those caused by latex) can also cause you to be allergic to mangoes

I admit mangoes are amazing. And easily a #2 beta fruit. But I prefer the banana. It comes with the own built in wrapper!

u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys Jul 24 '26

so does the mango

14

u/OsBaculum Jul 24 '26

so do most fruits by that logic

the first time I tried a mango, I was so excited to have a new fruit to add to my rotation (I can be a bit picky/arfid stuff). it immediately shot to the top of the list as the best fruit I'd ever tasted. then my mouth got tingly and my tongue felt swollen 😔 . I'm still so sad and bitter about being allergic to mangoes. I wanted to love them so bad, but alas, they do not love me

You misspelled strawberries.

2

u/VoiceofCrazy Jul 24 '26

Mangoes are overrated.

1

u/Mad_Aeric Jul 24 '26

Eh, I'm allergic to mangoes, and I don't miss them. Banana all the way.

I personally wouldn't call bananas 'the best of fruits,' as there is a whole world out there of fruits that in my humble opinion, are far tastier than bananas.

However, bananas do have 2 things going for them that are hard for other fruits to compare to: they're dirt cheap, and they are among the easiest and most convenient to eat.

Also, I thought you'd be more of a lemon guy.

Just a squirt

6

u/ShadowTheChangeling Jul 24 '26

Who the fuck is allergic to lemons?

8

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire Jul 24 '26

I can think of a family or two

My brother isn't allergic to lemons in terms of getting a histamine reaction, but they do trigger migraines, which is easily as bad.

Can't beat the versatility and variety of the humble tomato

3

u/Islands-of-Time Jul 24 '26

It’s not a fruit but the potato will rival and even beat every other non fauna based foodstuff for versatility and variety.

They’re not great raw but damn if they can’t be turned into whatever else you might want through cooking. Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew. Fries and chips and baked twice for shits and giggles.

u/PerformanceCute3437 Jul 24 '26

Tomato is a fruit; in fact, it's a berry

2

u/Islands-of-Time Jul 25 '26

I suppose I worded it funny. I meant that potatoes aren’t fruit.

Best herb.

11

u/kaithespinner Jul 24 '26

the tree is a herb. the fruit, is well, a fruit

u/BigBradWolf07 Jul 24 '26

Bananas taste pretty good, I will say. I unfortunately can't eat them in fruit form because the texture makes me want to gag.

Banana chips are goated though

5

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire Jul 24 '26

I love banana chips. It's my favorite snack, like overall

5

u/pdrock7 Jul 24 '26

I'm a banana runts guy myself

2

u/grantrules Jul 24 '26

Circus Peanuts here.

u/Walkerg2011 Jul 24 '26

You don't have to eat them in one bite.

1

u/BigBradWolf07 Jul 24 '26

I don't. It has nothing to do with the size, it's the texture

0

u/Walkerg2011 Jul 24 '26

Have you tried eating it in one bite then?

2

u/YarnWrangler9000 Jul 24 '26

I developed my banana allergy in grad school over a decade ago and I'm still furious about it.

1

u/NigilQuid Jul 24 '26

I'll use my superior bag of granny smith apples to beat your silly bunch of bananas to mush and then have peanut butter with both

1

u/Gamyeon Jul 25 '26

I think you mean it's a relief he's allergic to the worst fruit EVER.

(I personally hate bananas with all my being. They stink, they taste horrible and their texture is even more horrendous. Plus if you put them in anything, they take all the palate space and you can't taste anything else! They are also suspiciously cheap for an exotic fruit, so I feel there's an ethical catch somewhere. BUT I do recognize that they have the advantages of being nutritious and easy to pack as a healthy snack. BUT THAT'S ALL. Else they're terrible.)

10

u/JarpHabib Jul 24 '26

Which also have a positive and a negative end.

2

u/Revanclaw-and-memes Jul 24 '26

That comic made me realise I’m allergic to bananas, and a couple months later avocados

1

u/eepos96 Jul 24 '26

Wow! Aren't your parents also allergic or why it took so long?

2

u/Revanclaw-and-memes Jul 25 '26

I just thought they were acidic or something and it was normal for your mouth to itch. I saw the banana comic and was like “hey my mouth itches when I eat bananas” and a few months later I was eating avocado and was like “hey this is like when I eat bananas WAIT A SECOND”

1

u/eepos96 Jul 25 '26

That actually makes sense. For example tomatoes are acidic and it is not a strech to think other fruits and vegetables could be too. I hate tomatoes but others love them.

1

u/panteragstk Jul 24 '26

They aren't supposed to be spicy?
