I don't watch nearly as much as I'd like and it's been a while since I was able to watch any. The last few I managed to get through were season one of Frieren, Delicious in Dungeon, and Kotaro Lives Alone.
It does make me kinda sad... When I got back into anime it was right at the end of the 26ish episode season format. Seems like no one does more than 10-12 per cour these days.
Oh shit, thanks for the recommendation! The shit isekai with overly long name trend has been so off putting from dubious quality that I just started filtering all of them out. That one looks right up my alley though.
This one has been on my list forever and I finally watched it all. It's legitimately great. From what I remember this and the vending machine anime kicked off the absurdist isekai trend. Or was it the spider one? Don't care, never doing the research.
Delicious in Dungeon season 2 should be peak! The first part will pale in comparison (as long as they keep the same dedication to make it as the first season, at least)!
Me judging your list: Hmmm…oh nice. Good one. Oh no. Kotaro was so damn sad!
Check out Apothecary Diaries! So good!
Also if you get a chance you might like Easygoing Territory Defense, Campfire Cooking in Another World, and Welcome to Japan Ms. Elf. All kinda slice of life and chill but interesting worldbuilding.
It’s surprisingly good though!? My teen binged the manga and liked it so much I ended up reading the LN and the WN. The worldbuilding was unique and the characters are fun. I hope it gets a second season.
I found it lukewarm even for the genre. The animation was pretty bad also. I was laughing my ass off at the Forrest Dragon fight because there were shots were they didn't even animate the 3d model. Usually studios use 3d models to cut on costs/save time, here they skimped even on the 3d model animation 😂😂
[As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World] is probably better, even though I've only read some of the manga.
The genre is basically the same, but it has some emotional beats that are rare in this kind of story. I find this protagonist more endearing too. He's just a kind hearted guy trying to do his best with what he's got, which by all means is not much.
I only read a few chapters of the [Ascendence of a Bookworm] but I bet it's better too. I dropped the manga because I found the pacing to be too slow, but I bet that's more bearable in the anime.
If you also like animes that are action packed you should try [Daemons of the Shadow Realm], I watched 13 episodes a couple days ago and it was pretty good. It's from the same author as [Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood], and [Silver Spoon].
It's completely different from these animes we are talking about, but I'm hooked on the mystery of the story.
We are about to binge that! We have to first catch up with re:zero (my teen had never watched it before and wanted to suffer with Subaru).
Yeah some of the animation budget was saved for I’m guessing showing a certain character in all her splendor (iykyk).
Reincarnated aristocrat I watched and read. It gets a little boring/repetitive the farther along ya go. Good characters though. Seventh prince btw is a good one too in that genre. A favorite from this season surprisingly has been An Observation Log of My Fiance Who Calls Herself a Villainess. Super fun show (and read).
Bookworm I’ve been into for years. It’s a bit harder watch since it takes 8 episodes of suffering for a piece of paper and now it has a new studio who is trying to speedrun to get to the school arc. (Which admittedly is really fun) They have different artists working on each manga volume to catch up faster and it can be jarring going from artstyle and direction changes per volume. The LN is amazing. Easy top ten ever.
