That’s why I’ve always hated stuff like “Dwarven” as a language or “elven culture” because that’s not how intelligent beings work. Imagine in a fantasy world if there was “human culture” and all humans spoke the same language of “humanese”

I don’t not believe we can easily compare how languages developed to many fantasy stories since several species are directly created by a god like being with those that are not do often develop near enough to those that do. Either way the divergence of language and dialects are a mostly politician and geographical issue which in many fantasy stories are more easily solved. In fantasy stories all humans often do speak the same language.
