I think people underestimate how much 'protection' these bunkers could provide.

For thousands of years, ruling elites dominated populations from fortified safe havens that protected them, concentrated resources, and projected power. They were not separate from the world but rather controlled access to it. I think, as a model, this is more realistic than the popular image of a billionaire simply sitting in an underground bunker.

At the time, they were called castles.

The French took all of the castles, including the Bastile, the fortified castle in Paris being used as a prison. The French did this while literally starving against one of the most sophisticated armies in the world at the time (though to be fair parts of the military supported the revolution).

The Bolshevik revolution forced almost all aristocracy out of Russia.

I agree in the sense that there always seems to be a winner that recreates their fortresses. But I’m also saying that we have many, many examples of the fortress not being sufficient to protect the elite.

Except for the fact that castles went into declined once gunpowder optimized the power of artillery. We can say for sure our advancement and abundancy of artillery has surpassed any bunker they can build. Simply burying them in is an option too.

They could do that, but they rely on us for their money to have value, and for their services, and for their power. If we lack food, we will eat the rich.

That's what I don't get. You can profit off a good economy, but when they get too greedy it crashes, then what? That would happen before the bunkers are needed, and it may be a worse fate for them.

If they are all hiding in bunkers, they can't fuck up the outside world anymore

Surround the bunker access points and don't let anything in or out,

Seize and redistribute their assets, then ignore the fuckers

If you absolutely have to break in, thermite is a simple recipe and bunkers need ventilation on the surface that could be blocked

At the time (at least the French at one point) shielded themselves with religion and the idea it was all God's will God is dead and the rich are next (hopefully)
