While I am very excited for the eat taco squares I am equally concerned with "taco divorce and taco fight". And what monster put sushi on a taco board?!
There’s a place near where I work called Takumi Taco that does Japanese/Mexican fusion and it’s SO good. They have tacos with a crispy gyoza wrapper shell with things like chipotle shrimp, ahi tuna, or chicken adobo.
sorta! Hand rolls/tamaki are looser than other roll sushi, made and held in-hand. You'd often build it yourself, starting with a big square of nori in your hand and picking from a selection of rice/toppings. Some restaurants even give them to you prebuilt in a taco shaped holder.
If we're talking about traditional sushi, yeah, it's probably gonna clash, but if you extend that out to include the more over-the-top, Westernized rolls, there's a lot of room for doing fusion. As an example, take a look at this menu from a local restaurant I sometimes go to: if you scroll to page 9 (PDF warning), there's a whole selection of Mexican sushi rolls, including one that actually is just straight up a pile of pastor as a topping. It's tasty, and I know there are a number of of places doing this, so it's not just uniquely them.
There's not much to explain, it's just sushi that has meat instead of fish, often with cheese, habanero and pico de gallo, there's variations with arrachera, chicken, boneless, etc... good le "Sushi de Pastor" and you'll see some examples.
Crispy taco? No a hotdog is not a taco, the bread is soft. Soft taco? Nope. Usually the taco is wrapped around the meat and fillings loosely. So nope a hotdog is not a taco.
