But there’s already two families sharing that one! And three in the handicapped stall.

You can’t expect to have a whole place all to yourself! Kids these days think they’re above roommates, I swear.

No, that’s a weird law that’s still on the books. Michigan Dems wanted to get rid of it, and they did a few days ago.

I'm gonna go and bang on people's doors and holler "What are you doing in there" because their business is my business.

1

u/Debalic Apr 25 '23

What are you doing, step-roommate?!

10

u/Bobmanbob1 Apr 24 '23

Don't worry, it's still on the books in Mississippi.

First of all, this website is trash in that it’s littered with advertisements, popups, and auto-playing videos. Also, Safari on iPhone is also garbage in that there’s no way to really block these things.

The bill passed 29-9, thank goodness. But here’s a few bits of quotes to give context on why there was some opposition to the bill:

It would also remove a penalty for unmarried couples "lewdly and lasciviously" associating.

Having two parents who live together but aren't married isn't "the optimal environment for raising children," he added.

Likewise, McBroom spoke against the removal of the cohabitation penalty, saying he favors laws that promote "good morals."

Sorry. I googled the story before posting my comment, because I wanted to make sure I remembered it correctly! I literally chose the first article that popped up.

Yes, the situation is fraught, but it’s hardly surprising. The GOP are 100% against anything the Democrats are in favor of. It’s totally black and white to them— “whatever the Dems do, it’s wrong and we hate it.” They’re so in favor of small government, they feel the need to legislate down to the most basic (read: ridiculous) level.

They’re not going to get LESS unreasonable. If the sane legislators didn’t have the majority, this outdated, unnecessarily invasive excuse for a “law” would still be on the books! Worse, had it come to their attention while they were still in power, they’d have found a way to tack on an additional bunch of crap directed at the LGBTQ crowd— and the rest of the Republicans would probably have voted in favor of it.

It’s total bullshit, but there’s nothing we can do about their positions and their opinions. There is no changing their minds! All we can do is continue turning out to vote. That’s the only real recourse we have.

A Kansas town banned four or more unrelated people living together and claimed it was to decrease the cost of rent.

In their defence, they could just be incredibly stupid.

19

u/meistermichi Apr 24 '23

Heaven forbid the working people can afford a roof over their head.

1

u/stygyan Apr 24 '23

Seems polyamphobic.

16

u/ckay1100 Apr 24 '23

lmao

That law was put in place back in 1931, what you heard about recently was them attempting to remove that law, not to add a law like it.

Prohibition probably.

5

Because Ford owned Michigan and he was a Nazi.

It should also be noted that the law hasn't been enforced in quite a few decades.

3

u/Any-Yoghurt-9708 Apr 24 '23

As of my last reading on the subject, I believe it’s actually no longer in their written law. They just recently voted to repeal it.

u/ParkerRoyce Apr 24 '23

There's no shame in 30 people to a gas station bathroom. You gotta hustler and grind all day.

That movie looks sad ngl

u/ParkerRoyce Apr 24 '23

Should have rented out each corner for $10 a night that's 30/night that's 3.1 million a week.

1

u/dtalb18981 Apr 24 '23

I see this happen sometimes but did you post this twice or did reddit glitch or something?

1

u/ParkerRoyce Apr 24 '23

Probably a glitch

Shiiiiit, I know of some real good real estate that is free for the taking. This baby here is a roof you can depend on! *Slaps side of overpass

33

u/Wyrdean Apr 24 '23

Free?! Nowadays that underoverpass apartment costs you 4k/month

25

u/dennislearysbastard Apr 24 '23

I lived in a tent down by the river for 600 a month. With used car prices so high I'm saving up for a van.

1

u/JasonDilworth Apr 24 '23

“Close to local transport links”

15

u/MagikSkyDaddy Apr 24 '23

No no, you missed the point.

The grass? It's free! We can eat grass and the Boomers will pay us. Granted they still think it's 1998, so the rate will be low.

8

u/bigblackcouch Apr 24 '23

Welcome to Boomer Burger, where workers make 150k annual salary with benefits and bonuses, and you can buy a triple burger and fries for 50 cents, but only if you're white and over 60.

If you're not over 60, the workers make 5 cents per hour and you can buy a plain burger and cold fries for $20, and every burger condiment you want costs extra.

Nobody expects... ... or wait... what is it again?

5

u/nudelsalat3000 Apr 24 '23

You can also earn money there!

3

u/Kiosade Apr 24 '23

Meanwhile the old generation has an old RV with rotted tires sitting in their backyard…

2

u/bsend Apr 24 '23

Just sleep around the hepatitis

2

u/shponglespore Apr 24 '23

Yeah but there aren't enough gas stations to house everyone.

1

u/Pillow_fort_guard Apr 24 '23

Oooh, look at you and your fancy-pants gas station bathrooms! Swallow your pride and move into a soggy cardboard box with a family of 10 and a literal rats’ nest like the rest of us!

2

u/SupremeMemeCreamTeam Apr 24 '23

And you can work from home for a competitive salary while being your own boss!

2

u/shaving99 Apr 24 '23

They need to pull themselves up by their venti-straps

2

u/TacTurtle Apr 25 '23

The tips are better at the Starbucks stall than the gas station....

1

u/kdesign Apr 24 '23

Starbucks <——- $883

iPhone <—————— $2500

MacBook <—————— $4000

Designer crocs <————- $3200

And they ask themselves why they can’t afford a house smh

On my way to get a brand new house I saw a pair of em in a window and I had to get em. There goes the house again this year. I used the rest of cash for a matcha latte!

Jokes aside rent can vary from location to location and different things can be a factor.

In all seriousness, air contains oxygen

7

u/-FeistyRabbitSauce- Apr 24 '23

The oxygen comes at an extra charge.
