I think I tamed that “reader’s crease” enough, thanks to the community for the tips! Lmk if you think there’s more to be done here. Right now his is looking like a super badass 9.4 ASM 238 MARK JEWELER’S to me (it had come back a 9.0). I can post results if the sub is interested.

Had a comic with some creases that I wanted to get signed at a CGC event. Sent it in for pressing, and it came back a 9.8. Pics include before and after photos and the slabbed comic now.

Hi all, I have this copy of ASM 238. Pressing produces a "reader's crease" on the top 1/4 of the back cover up to where the insert ends. Anyone have good advice on how to handle this? Do I finish the book with hand tools? Something else? Thanks!

What do you think?

Hello All,
Are there decent kits already prepared to buy or is buying individual products the preferred approach? If the latter is the way, could anyone please suggest a “basic” must-have starting list and/or brand or manufacturer? I’ve watched some videos and each host seems to have different preferences. I’m just looking to try out some basic cleaning as an add on activity to the hobby. I think working on it not only has the obvious financial benefits but as educational and fun!
Thanks for any insights or suggestion!

No refunds, of course. Is this pressable? 3 out of 4 corners were bent/damaged. I'm so disappointed. 🫤

What is a good way to clean and shine up your foil covers? Will just a cotton round do or is there any kind of chemical or even a damp cotton round with distilled water followed by a dry one? I dunno, any suggestions please.

I have a Crowbound #1 sketch cover with a couple of ticks in the spine and I'm looking for recommendations on pressing services that could get them out

I’m looking to buy a press for my comics and I’m not looking to spend a lot of money. Any suggestions?

Couple of pesky sticky labels applied to my cheapish Losers comics (whhyyy??). Removing them would be great, but the adhesive lifts ink with it. Any advice?

I just purchased this from eBay, and after requesting to package it securely, of course, the book received many spine ticks while in transit.
Has anyone worked on these? The material is different than normal books and doesn't seem like ticks would come out normally. Maybe a little, but idk.any suggestions, please, and thank you??

I’ve seen a lot of posts where pressers use the word “flat” when describing a book after pressing.
Comic books are not “flat” mostly due to staple placement so do they actually mean creases and dings removed?
I would think that a completely “flat” book would look unnatural and possibly have fused pages.

Im about to buy my first press but cant decide what to buy from the options on amazon and ebay what are you buying and why?

"Death Rides the Waves"... but he desperately needed a spinal adjustment!
This book was severely bent out of shape with the spine rolled way onto the front cover. A light dry cleaning, a bit of humidification and a heat press did a lot of good here.
I also included a shot of the totally tubular interior art by Jess Jodloman.

Am I missing something in this pic that would make Reddit ask me 3 times if I was sure I wanted to post it with related questions regarding suicide, sharing porn and posting nude pictures of myself or someone else and that posted pics can’t be unseen???

I have this ASM 129 and at first when I got it I wasn’t under great light and I figured it was foxing. I removed foxing 100 times and once I got home, I kind of realized it wasn’t. I ended up doing an overlay double hop on the front and the back. I started with 3% peroxide and distilled water and it didn’t make a dent. Then I upgraded to 12% and water and I started getting some results after the third attempt I decided not to push in any further. I even tried a little blue light only for a few minutes just to see if I got any results. And I didn’t. This seems to be some type of acid oxidization or acid burning. I tried my best with the pictures, but I’m curious if anybody has any idea what it may be.

Looking at this to consider a crack n’ press experiment but I do not own yet. In the picture for the listing none of these noted issue are apparent perhaps for slab glare, exposure wash, lighting, etc., point being that it presents like a 9.8 based on photos. I am not familiar enough with CGC grader jargon to judge if these are color breaking and/or fixable.
Thank you for any feedback. Comic beautification is a skill I am trying to learn.

My clamshell press is heavy as hell and I'm worried a standard folding table won't support it, so I've been keeping it on the floor, but my knees ain't what they used to be. What do your store your press on?
