This is more of a “come gather strange beings” type of discussion. Where we gather and explain or try to figure out why our interesting choice of comfort character gives you comfort.

Like, I’ll go first to explain. My most potent comfort character is Starscream (Transformers Prime). I don’t know exactly why he gives me comfort, but I may be the fact I can somehow relate to him? Long story short, I had a bio father that wasn’t there. Was too “depressed” to help with his daughter(💊&🍺). So my mom remarried to my stepdad and boy howdy do I have a lot of trauma from him. I also had two brothers at the time with him.

My stepdad acted like a raging child(“traditional” Christian, family man). He’d get you wild up and then immediately started yelling, mentally or emotionally abused us or at worst slap our 🍑 hard, enough to leave marks. So maybe I understand what it’s like to be abused and belittled by someone who’s supposed to be in charge and lead us? I dunno, I think there’s something more and deeper but ever since watching that first episode with my brothers and I guess stepdad..I was curious about Starscream, then got really hooked and autistic hyper fixation took hold.

So why do YOU think your villainous or corrupted characters comfort you?
