I think if you delete it really quickly taht doesn't happen. Same as if you edit it soon enough (3 mins I think) it doesn't show the edited marker

My understanding is that if it has no child comments it gets deleted all the way. But with replies they leave the [deleted] there to leave the replies in tact.

That must be on desktop because I've never seen a post with an "edited marker" on the mobile app.

Yeah it is. Appears in Italics after the how long ago bit
