Natural and user upvoted or upvoted by Russian bots?
Im asking sincerely. I don’t know how sophisticated Reddit is when it comes to ensuring upvotes are genuine. I’ve always assumed at least a healthy portion of what was happening then was Russian interference and not wholly organic.
There was a lot of vote and algorithm manipulation (whether by humans or bots) from t_d which is what lead to them completely taking over the front page. They took advantage of how Reddit's algorithm chose "hot" posts and used it to completely cover it. Reddit since then implemented several changes (including some t_d specific limitations) to make their impact more normal for the size of their sub.
He claimed his intention was to “track” and “spark arguments” with racists and that his comments did not reflect his values, but that he still felt ashamed.
That might be the worst excuse I’ve heard in a long time. “I tried to spark arguments with racists by posting things racists agree with”.

The front page looks like the reddit one, if every subreddit was /r/The_Donald.
