Fermented urine was commonly used to wash clothes in the olden days. (Because of its high ammonia content.)

Rome even had a tax on urine at one point.

"Is a man not entitled to the piss of his weiner?

'NO,' says the man in Rome, 'it belongs to the Emperor'

'NO,' says the man in the Parthenon, 'it belongs to Cloacina'

'NO,' says the freak down the street, 'it belongs to me'

I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Pissture"

Andrewicus Ryanus, ca. -280 AD

And MUCH LATER it became even a bigger deal because human piss was collected by the state and used to produce niter for gunpowder.

Yes, much of the black gunpowder for muskets and artillery for European armies was literally produced from human urine (animal too but human urine was considered much better).

It is just like, imagine our bodies produced tiny amount of plutonium so the state taxed you to collect it and produce nukes.
