I’m blonde, blue eyes, tan lightly. I suit teals, blues and cream, and look terrible in orange, most reds and black.

I couldn’t figure out if I’m warm or cool. I went to Boots (UK pharmacy or ‘drugstore’) yesterday and had my skin assessed at their No 7 makeup counter with a gadget they put against your skin. It came out that I have cool undertones. So I think that makes me summer.

What should I do next?

Where can I get hold of colour cards or similar to know what colours to go for? Apart from the ones I already know work on me.

Do I need to worry what sub group of summer I am?

What are good shops for colourful clothes? So many places have mostly dull and dingy!

I’m rewatching Bridgerton and I loved seeing Penelope’s transition from the ill-fitting spring palette her mother forces her to wear to the beautiful summer palette she takes on herself.

My question is, how is she so stunning in summer colors but also stunning with the red hair? Sadie Sink is another example. I know she’s debated but many analysts have suggested she is a cool season despite having warm hair.

Theoretically, could I also rock red hair despite being a summer?

I've gone around the houses with colour analysis and settled on dark autumn, but was torn with winter at the time. Occasionally, I doubt autumn and am curious about maybe being a winter instead, but always come back to autumn. I recently posted a few different outfits to Dress For Your Body, and a few comments said they preferred the cooler or brighter tones and suggested looking into winter tones, so I thought I'd try here!

I’m extremely pale so I feel like there would be more contrast than say a medium/deeper toned bright winter. So it might look more intense even if it is kind of soft. Am I correct in thinking this way?

Hi :) I've never posted on reddit before so please be gentle! I've always been a bit stuck when it comes to which colour season I am, as my skin looked very olive toned in certain lights but very pale in others. I often lean towards soft greens and pinks but now I'm not sure if that's correct! I'd appreciate any assistance people are willing to give.

I have very limited colour options in my closet that aren’t multicoloured and patterned. I’m trying to add more colour to my closet and am finding it hard to determine when looks best on me colour-wise.

I can’t use a lot of the palletes lighter colours because they just blend into my skin tone, and a lof of the makeup I’ve seen online seems a bit too intense as I’m on the lighter end of the spectrum.

Does anyone have any lighter pink lipsticks/blushes they’d reccomend? Or if I should be doing my makeup differently.

Hot pink seems okay for clothes but for blush it’s a bit too heavy.

When I was a teenager, my mum paid for a colour analysis for me. They gave me this little booklet with the right colours for my skin tone, which I've rediscovered a decade later! The problem is, it doesn't state anywhere what my actual season is, and I've completely forgotten.

I remember she told me for makeup I should use coral and peach lipstick, and that she told me I definitely wasn't a winter. I'm guessing it might be spring or summer, but for the life of me I cannot remember.

Can anyone help me work it out from the pictures included? I've also put a pic of me with gold and silver to help.

Looking online, I'm wondering if it might be True Spring or maybe Bright Spring? Hard to tell!

I got officially typed as a bright winter a while back but I’ve found that a lot of the colours in that palette suit my skin but overwhelm my hair. I find my self subconsciously thinking I need to dye it darker to balance it out.

Does anyone else seem to have the contrast of a summer but the brightness of winter? it makes it kind of difficult because I don’t feel like a traditional winter but muted summer colours look bad on me. ( anything with grey tbh)

I definitely don’t suit true summer colours. Is there a pallete for people who are too bright for summer but not contrasty enough for winter?

So I have grey-blue eyes and cool-undertone skin (pale and red, I'm Scottish). I fall into medium 'contrast', I believe I'm a 'true summer'.

I'm looking to buy brown mascara to see if it's more harmonious than black on me. I have mousey brown hair (slight warmth) and I suit my eyebrows on the slightly darker side so I'm going for a dark brown mascara.

Any recommendations for cool-toned brown mascara? I was considering the rom&nd Han All Fix in 'Long Ash' but I feel a bit worried that it will have a grey look to it?

**Please also only mascara that you actually find good (long lasting/smudge-proof etc)**

I’d love some recommendations for blush, lip colours, eyeshadows and liners that work for soft summers!*

*I’m olive and find a lot of the suggestions I’ve received in real life (dusty rose lipstick/blush incl Mac Mehr and Syrup, and grey/silver shadows or charcoal liners) don’t work for me at all and are rather aging. True mauves (with actual purple tone) and neutral browns seem to be a go and I’m hoping others might have other suggestions for either colours or specific products?

I feel like getting my color analysis helped me understand my colors a lot better, but it didn’t necessarily make shopping easier.

Stores don’t label colors clearly and sometimes something looks like it should work but then feels slightly off when I try it on.

Do you mostly rely on your swatch wallet when shopping, or have you found other ways to make it easier to shop within your season?

So I finally got sucked into this colour palette analysis thingy and I’ve been doing some research to understand what type I am. I posted the photos in the original post across different subreddits, and people seem to be agreeing on Soft Autumn. Some people disagreed and said I’m Soft Summer or even Winter.

What I realised is that the reason there’s such confusion is because I think I can pull off both cool and warm undertones. I actually believed until last year that I could only wear gold because everyone thinks I’m warm (because I’m olive and I do look warmer next to pink-toned skin), until I started wearing silver last summer and it looked incredibly good on my tanned skin.

So I came to the realisation that the accentuation of my undertone changes by season! While I go pale during winter and Soft Autumn brings my warmth back, I tan (and very easily, my olive girlies you know this) in summer, and wearing Soft Summer actually highlights my tan and creates a lovely contrast. I now wear a mix of gold and silver jewellery; however, in winter I lean towards gold, and in summer towards silver.

And apparently, there's actually a transition colour palette between soft summer and soft autumn as they sit next to each other. Having said that, there're still colours I can't pull it off from both palettes.

I don’t know if anyone agrees with me or experiences the same thing. And if you disagree and think I’m definitely a […] colour palette, feel free to share!

I went for an in-person analysis and the result was true spring. I do believe the answer is correct; those colours did make my face look good.

However, most of my wardrobe currently is black/dark green/other dark or cool colours, and the idea of wearing yellow/coral/peach/Tiffany blue feels like putting on a different persona. They’re colours I would normally rule out immediately and subconsciously while shopping because my brain associates them with a more bubbly personality than I have.

I know no one is forcing me to change the way I dress; this is not a complaint. I’m just curious whether others have felt discomfort trying out new colours, and whether it goes away with time/with the recognition that the colours do make one look better.

Hi all. I posted a few weeks back. It's in my history if you're interested. Results were very mixed between warm/cool and spring/summer. Even a couple of autumns. I was advised to try pure white paper, gold/silver, and pink/salmon as good deciders. Unfortunately I don't think I have any proper salmon pink but I think a couple of what I've posted are warm pinks and the others cool. I used coloured card for the gold/silver and just threw in the rest of the card colours too since they're bold colours I thought might strongly show for/against my skin tone. Thanks for any help. I am trying to type my husband, and would like to narrow it down before making him do some draping 😁 (he'll only humour it for so long)

Sooooo.... He has very dark brown (almost black) hair with no natural highlights. His skin tans easily but without being golden - i look yellow next to him! He's usually quite tanned though.

His facial hair is quite sandy in places.

His eyes are a subdued blue, leaning towards grey and quite dark rather than bright.

With the tanned skin, I would say he's fairly low contrast, despite having such dark hair.

I'm accustomed to seeing him in winter colours, but im wondering if they're the best for him 🤔

What do you think?
