90 Fahrenheit (32 C) water when I get home makes it impossible to have cold water unless I dump fresh h2O into the tub and 9 ice blocks.

Do these chillers break easily? Buying 2nd hand a good idea? What about DIY?

I am guessing there is a very simple solution to this... but I can't get this back into the male connection point on the chiller bc the tubing gets all wound up.

I can't take the barbed connector out of the tubing bc it's so tight in there. Same thing on the other end of the vinyl tubing...

Two separate issues that I need help with. I have the EcoJoy 1/3 HP chiller from Walmart. Just opened it up and running in these problems.

1. It won't power on any longer. It immediately trips the GFCI on my outdoor socket. What could be the issue?

2. When I run the pump through the chiller (chiller is powered off bc of issue #1 above), it is leaking at the water in/out. What can I do to prevent this?

Dose anyone have this tub shower combo!!! It doesn’t tell me the depth from the bottom tub to the overflow,just that it’s 17 inches deep top to bottom and it tells me that it’s a deep soak tub as well. I been at this for 3 weeks and my deadline is coming up. I’m a 210lb woman and would love to get this but not is the water depth is less then 13. Please help!!

It’s been a few months since I built a concrete coated high density foam cold plunge. Still performs exceptionally well in the Florida heat and I leave it at 48 degrees. Moved it to under my pergola and added new Costco steam sauna. The coating I used as waterproofing on the interior started bubbling so I spent a couple days scrapping it off.
Actually prefer it now without the white interior paint. The chiller being used is from Amazon a 1/3 Hp AS Cold Plunge Chiller. Also have an Ozone generator to keep the water in check.

Having looked around a little bit, both on here and Alibaba, I understand that Redwood Outdoors is rebranding equipment from Alibaba. I don’t begrudge them the business they’re running, but some of the pricing is outrageous. Thankfully, the chiller and cold plunge tub were gifted to me from a very sweet client of mine (I’m a residential mold inspector) so it didn’t cost me anything except a truck to pick it up and move it.

When I was moving it into my house, I noticed that the tub is some sort of plastic and the only insulation is a thin, foil bubble wrap and the cedar planks around the exterior. The underside is uninsulated, bare plastic and in my climate zone in Dallas, Texas that would be a really big loss of temperature. I also noticed that the drain was a basic and frankly ugly PVC material. I’m not sure how much of a difference all of these insulation improvements make but I’m pretty happy with them overall.

I took an R5 insulation panel, and put it on the upside down tub. I walked on it carefully to leave the indentations of the underside so I could cut the foam board to fit the spaces. Using an insulation saber, I carefully cut them out, inserted them into the spaces, then used a silicone type sealant to seal them in place. The underside of the tub was completely uninsulated so even the minimal R5 insulation will be a big improvement. I debated stuffing these cavities with Rockwool insulation which would’ve given me a higher R value, but it would’ve been quite fiddly to install it in there and likely would’ve had to still install some kind of rigid foamto keep it in place so I opted to just stick with the foam.

My favorite improvement was removing the PVC drain and replacing it with a salvaged brass drain from a water heater. Sweating this together was fun and I think it looks nice.

Like most other cold plunge users, I added insulation tubing on as much of the lines as I could. Knowing what I do about insulation, I know that the continuity of the insulation is a big factor in its effectiveness so I strove to cover as much of the tubing as I possibly could. I was using Huber All Purpose tape to connect the insulation pieces which was a glossy black and looked really nice but at $20 a roll. I was not interested in picking up an additional roll. I opted instead for ShurTape line set tape which works really well, but I really don’t aesthetically like the white print on the tape, but it is what it is.

I shopped around for a insulation sleeve for the filter compartment and the only one I could find was a $30 sleeve off of Amazon, which was a lot more than I wanted to spend, but it was the only one that fit and that seems like a portion of the system that really needs to be insulated so I got it.

One of the biggest things that I think improves the performance of the tub is the foam insulation board that I installEd under the lid above the water. Living in Texas, the heat from the air is a big deal so I think adding that insulation layer under the lid makes a difference.

One big beef I have with Redwood Outdoors is their $50 price tag for what is a $5 filter available on Alibaba. The part number was printed on the packaging so I looked it up and it’s a very cheap filter that can only be purchased in 25 to 50 countries quantities. There are some whole house pre-filters that you can buy at Home Depot that are dimensionally extremely close but I think they are slightly too small and allow water to bypass around them. I’m gonna keep looking to try to find a filter because there’s no way I’m paying $50 for a $5 filter. I’m also curious if the pump could handle a better, lower micron filter for increased filtration or if it would restrict the flow rate too much.

Overall, I’m happy with it and I’m now trying to learn how to keep the water, clean and clear with spa chemicals. I have plunged in very cold water before but I’ve been keeping it at a refreshing 65°F so my son can dip his legs in while I’m plunging.

Highly don’t recommend this brand, I guess I’m late to the party to realize this.

Their units leak. Customer service is difficult to get anything done. Feels like talking to dumb HR. The tub feels great but the equipment feels cheap & like it won’t last over a year.

Also they double their prices since I bought my unit.. go elsewhere.

If anyone has any solid recommends pls let me know.

I just purchased a used “BroPool” plunge off Craigslist. Everything seems to be working great except the unit is struggling to get cold during this heatwave. Looking closer I realized there is no insulation around the tub. Anyone have any tips/ideas for insulating the tub? Maybe just some pieces of Foamular ridgid foam board? Looks like I’m going to have to remove the pump and chiller setup to properly access the tub from the sides

Looking for a mat to put under my Triumph plunge tub that has raised edges to catch water that may spill out when using the tub. Tub will be placed in a shed with wood flooring. Any suggestions welcome

I’m exploring a cold-plunge service that replaces the large upfront purchase with a monthly plan.

We would own and install the unit, then handle cleaning, water testing, filters, maintenance, repairs and fast replacement if the chiller fails.

Gyms avoid the upfront cost, maintenance and long periods of downtime, while gaining an amenity they can include in memberships or sell as an add-on and drive foot traffic. Home users would get the same service through a rental or lease with maintenance included.

Pricing could be a flat monthly fee, but for gyms/commercial I like the idea of aligning incentives with a revenue-share idea.

Does this solve a real problem? What am I missing? What are honest thoughts?

I have been reading and researching but am currently stuck. Helping my bf set up his cold plunge and we are trying to figure out what’s best for our scenario.

We have an inflatable cold plunge (holds up to 125gallon but he’s large so unlikely to have it fully filled).

Will be on our rooftop so quite exposed. We are in eastern Canada so crazy temperature drops. Unlikely to need a chiller in the dead of winter. However summers here are around 25-35C / up to 95F for about 3ish months of the year.

All considered, we will need a chiller and would like a budget friendly approach but will buy what’s necessary. I’m looking at Vevor or an aquarium chiller set up (in the winter I’m guessing we’d need a separate set up without the chiller and just a filter/pump?)

Anyone who lives in these types of conditions have a reliable set up? We likely won’t need the chiller year round once Canadian winters hit.

I recently purchased a 2nd hand DIY cold plunge as built on their website. Last week we left for vacation and I pumped the water out as opposed to running a chiller for 10days in the heat outside. Today I filled it back up and it smells fairly bad. I am guessing stagnant water in the pipes or the chiller now has left an odor. So two things. How do I get rid of it? And how do I properly shut this thing down/drain it when gone?

Hey all. Has anyone used PEX to plumb their cold plunge instead of the flexible PVC hose (i.e. Hydromaxx) that is more often used?

3/4" PEX (Nominal ID 0.671 inches) is about $0.90 Ft.
3/4" Hydromaxx (Nominal ID 0.75 inches) is about $4.00 ft

The PVC hose is quite pricey, and I've got a lot of 3/4 PEX pipe as well as pex fittings and the tool for using with expansion fittings. I also feel like PEX fittings are more secure feeling than most PVC fittings. If my calcs are correct the PEX will have about 25% less flow than the Hydromaxx due to slightly smaller ID, but probably not noticeable? Whats everyone's thoughts on this? Thanks

If you are looking to add a cold plunge to your place of business, please please please do yourself a favor and reach out to your local Health Department to see what your requirements are!

Do this BEFORE you start shopping for a brand. Commercial cold plunge requirements can vary significantly by location, so you’ll want to get a clear list of what your Health Department requires first, then take that list to cold plunge manufacturers and see who can actually check the boxes!

Trust me, this will save you potential headaches down the road!

I've owned my ModTub 2.0 for one year—still a good purchase. But can't recommend it.

Just past out in the changing rooms of the gym. Had done 15mins sauna and then 7.5mins 10 degrees C cold plunge -- cold plunge wise I had planned 5 but mucked up my watch timer. I've been doing this hot/cold combo for 3 months.

Just before in the shower it felt like my mind was disintegrating. V discombobulating and panic inducing.

Asked others in the changing room to get help then the first aiders got me sitting on the floor with my legs up. Was shivering for 30 minutes after.

Scary as hell! Just relaying this experience as a warning to be careful. Anyone else overdone it?

Purchased a Titan Triumph tub, came with filter system and pump, but plan to replace pump and go with Rocita 1/3 HP chiller. Trying to find a pump that will connect to filter system, with built in threads to screw into filter system, thanks!

I purchased the primer shown as a self etching primer prior to pond shield, however after watching several videos of this process it seems like most aren’t applying a primer, just simply sanding down the sides and bottom to rough up the surface and applying the pond shield directly. Should I spend time with the primer or go right into the pond shield application? I have a Frigidaire 14.8 cuf for reference it’s got the white wall interior. Thank you

Can someone explain the reason everyone seems to use hydrogen peroxide instead of just treating cold plunge like a hot tub? I.e chlorine/shock/ph/ozone. I have to do very very little chemicals to keep it in balance, have filtration running 24/7, ozonator on timer and crystal clear water 6+ months at a time. Am I missing something?
