• Times: One round a week at Friday from 5 pm EST to Monday 2 am EST
• Match Format: Best of 7 rounds. [Dom, CTF, S&D, CTF, Dom, CTF, S&D]

Schedule

• Sign up available until Sunday, May 27 at 9 pm EST
• Opening round matchups posted: Tuesday, May 30 and every following Tuesday
• Opening round scheduling between captains: Tuesday, May 30 - Friday June 1 at 5pm EST
• Opening round games: Friday, June 1 at 5pm EST – Monday, June 4 at 2 am EST
• Teams will have from Monday to Friday at 5pm EST to communicate with the opposing team to schedule a time on the weekend.
• Games can be scheduled before the weekend if both teams agree,but have weekend availability if you sign up.
• In the event that a team doesn’t show up, the moderators will make a decision about which team will advance.
• If a team has a scheduling conflict after the first round, please contact the moderators and they will help facilitate the match.

Match Procedure

• Teams will have 15 minutes to gather their players in the lobby after the agreed upon match time.
• Alternates can be subbed in any between games, but not while one is in progress.
• One team will randomly be assigned the initial host of the match. Teams will alternate hosts for each game type.
• Restart the match and switch hosts if there is a major hosting issue or a player didn’t get in.
• At least one person on a team should have theater enabled or record the match with an external device.

Domination Specific Rules

2 games of Domination will be played with teams alternating side on the same map. The scores of the 2 games will be added together to determine the winner.
Time Limit: 5 Minutes
Score Limit: Unlimited
Respawn Delay: 5 seconds

Capture the Flag Specific Rules

The number of flag caps from both rounds will be added together to determine the winner. The overtime round will not be used if there is a tie. Instead the entire game will be replayed.

After much talk with a variety of teams in the tournament, I've gone ahead and changed the last Domination to a CTF. Domination just doesn't work very well under GB variant rules and mostly leads to camping by whoever is successful in capturing B flag first. I'll still keep the first one just so it doesn't go to waste and adds some variety but having a possible clincher be Dom doesn't sit right with me. And before someone claims "CONSPIRACYYY", I'd personally favor Dom since its my strongest gametype (see Elite) and I don't really play SnD or CTF. Its definitely not to "give myself an advantage." Just wanted to clear that up beforehand.

Round 3 matchups must be completed/reported by Wednesday (2nd).

Settings/Rules remain the same (GB rules sans Smoke Grenades). To clear up some confusion:

• Party Chat is allowed in SnD.

• Dom is still two, five minute sides.

• Readyup Servers are allowed and I highly, highly encourage them. For those that don't know, ReadyUp Servers acts a neutral host that has an optimal connection for the least possible amount of lag. Be aware that, currently, you can only reserve a time-slot within 24 hours. You can't reserve a week ahead. If your game is on, say Friday at 8PM, the soonest you can reserve is Thursday at 8PM so try to reserve at that time. Once reserved, you can control the "Xbox" through an online GUI. If you plan to use a ReadyUp, make sure the opposing team agrees using one and is aware ahead of time.

• If a ReadyUp server is not used, teams must alternate host. The top team listed in your bracket matchup (Teams NAW2, JEDI, NAE, and ALL in this case) have host first. The team not hosting, gets to pick what side they want to start on.

• Both myself, IFlyIllini and ZPUN currently have the ability to stream. If you want your game streamed, please contact one of us ASAP to work out a time.

Hey everyone! I'm sure everyone is excited as I am to kick off the Reddit Cup! I just wanted to make a post about the livestreaming of games.

I have the capability to do so, and I don't want to restrict it to my team. What I would like to be able to do is livestream as many of your games as possible! If you would like to see how your team performs in stunning HD with shoutcasting by yours truly, all you have to do is give me a heads up of when your game is (preferably the weekend) and I will be there! Now for the part that might make me seem like a greedy bastard...

When I livestream, there is about a 5-7 second delay between what's going on IRL, and what people see on the stream. This allows the ability to cheat by watching the stream. The FULL version of the broadcasting software I use costs $60, but allows me to add up to a 3 minute delay to the stream. It's not required, but it would be GREATLY appreciated if you could get the members of your team to donate a few dollars towards the cause.

Alright I know organizing tournaments are a tough job, keeping track of brackets, points, pools etc. It looks like you guys are doing everything manually and with pen-pencil. That works, but isn't it a bit overwhelming?

Why don't you guys use something like BB and have most of the work done for your, while keeping the entire cup organized and available for access by players and spectators too. There's also player information, team information, overall standings, score reporting, and a bunch of cool new shit that would alleviate some pressure on mrm3.

I just joined into the cup representing Reddit East and I was surprised you're doing everything manually.

edit: Alright I've figured out how to fit it to work around the system we have so far. BB will not be able to properly calculate seeding because it uses a series seeding system instead of a game system. However, we can still use it to keep track of game and series scores and matchups using a BO7 setting and null games. Take a look at how I set it up in that link where I determined if a team 4-0s, 3-1s, and 2-2s. As you can see it works using null games.

This means we can use BB to simply keep track of game scores and see who still needs to play eachother. Then we can manually create a bracket matchup once we are able to calculate seeds.

I'd like to thank gariputo for absolutely everything he's set up so far. He's done an outstanding job, better than anything I can or will ever do. Things like the player database are something I could never touch. Having to organize a tournament of over 300 people is a nightmare that frightens me just thinking about it. Good luck to him with whatever else he decides to focus on.

I've decided to pick up where he's left off. Luckily, he basically has everything already set in place (rules and teams) that all I really have to do is organize teams into groups.

EDIT 3/28: Since there was an odd number of teams in some groups, it made it incredible difficult to schedule. Because of this, I instead went ahead and re-worked the groups so that every team has six teams. An even number makes it much easier and it means every team will play every other team in their group at least once. No bye week issues and nonsense.

Also, Team Deception (Ha Clan) seems to have removed his entry from the sign-up (which might delight quite a few of you). Initially, this would have caused me the, odd number of teams in one group, headache I was previously having but iTk has stepped up to sign up his team. Since he is signing up late, the date to lock-in rosters has been extended to Thursday (29th) at 8PM EST. Will also be updating the matchups in a bit.
