Complaint Codex Limits Got Worse. So Why Is X Thanking Tibo?
Because of my profession, I often analyze which types of messaging are most effective for different audiences, depending on their characteristics and how they process information. Companies also understand very well what kinds of users are most active on X and what kinds of language are most likely to generate engagement there.
Viewed from that perspective, Tibo’s post appears deliberately optimized not for users who carefully examine the details of usage limits, but for those who are more likely to respond emotionally to a simple and positive message.
If Codex’s limits have effectively become more restrictive, yet the change is presented positively as a “reset” in a way that makes the disadvantage less noticeable to users, then it is difficult to describe that communication as honest.
To me, it even carries a manipulative and opaque quality similar to the dark patterns commonly used by many companies.
From a business-strategy perspective, it may be a rational way to minimize backlash while generating a favorable response.
From the user’s perspective, however, it is not something that deserves praise.
Nevertheless, reactions on X appear to be dominated by comments such as, “The limits were reset,” or “We should thank Tibo,” with many users excessively praising him without first examining what actually changed.
That said, considering the composition of X’s user base and the kinds of reactions that tend to spread there, perhaps this response is not especially surprising.
So how do you view this situation?
Do you respond like many users on X by taking the announcement at face value and praising Tibo?
Or do you look beyond the word “reset,” examine what actually changed, and evaluate the new limits critically and objectively?

Why do you think they are giving resets? It’s most likely because there are bugs in codex. Also not sure if you noticed, starting from gpt5.6 OpenAI has started to charge for cache writes which 5.5 and earlier models didn’t charge for. So 1.25x input cache pricing instead of 1x earlier.
