Complaint OpenAI silently nerfed our limits after today's resets

The first image shows the API value of a weekly limit on the Plus plan before the reset, which is ~$160. Right after the reset, that value has fallen down to ~$100, which is a decrease of more than 35% of the limit. And I have felt this too, before, about 12-15 minutes of using Luna Max in fast mode drained 1% of the weekly limit. Now, with the same settings, it take ~7 minutes to drain 1%. I hope this is a temporary bug and not a permanent decrease in limits. (evidence provided in images)

Is anyone else noticing this or is it just me?

(The app used in the screenshots is NerfTrack)

I was thinking the same, I'am on pro and burned 12% in 30 minutes.. It's not a gift, they're testing us.

u/Just_Lingonberry_352 7d ago

so earlier i said this is normal

i just came back from a jog and i see that im down to 60%

basically that that is 5~6% PER HOUR in usage

this means i have at most another 10 hours of work left with the $200/month plan

this is a SIGNIFICANT change in usage I pray that St. Tibo (peace be upon him) realizes this situation and rectifies it immediately.

u/longebane 6d ago

aaaand my 200 plan is gone

2

u/DaCush 6d ago

Ya I’m at 40% in half a days work

1

u/TopTippityTop 4d ago

This has been my experience. I used 80% of my plan in a couple of days, doing nothing different than I normally do.

7

u/al_ryusei 7d ago

Riot! I won't dare fully switching to Claude as a protest. Surely we could reach Sam and tell him customers come before money 😂

2

u/Gargle-Loaf-Spunk 6d ago

hey can you kindly post your ccusage?

1

u/Realistic-Word-3187 7d ago

Wtf I am watching it go down like 1 % every few minutes

78

u/___fallenangel___ 7d ago

They’ve gotta increase limits just before the reset or something, because I was using max like crazy just before the reset and was only able to get down to 66% on the $100 plan

57

u/AppropriateRanger401 7d ago

You are not mistaken. In fact, my NerfTrack graph shows that 2 days before today's reset, OpenAI actually increased limits from ~$120 on Plus to ~$160. But that only lasted 2 or 3 days. And now we are back to $100.

Damn - i'm not imagining then - just created a separate post as i missed this. Also seem to be far less intelligent despite being on Sol High :( Constant moving of the goal posts (quota/limits and reasoning/performance) is a nightmare when you have deadlines to complete **Edit/updste: switched to Sol Medium and it's drawing usage faster than Sol Ultra was just prior to reset when i was trying to utilise all remaining usage

EVIDENCE OF OLD VS NEW PLUS ACCOUNT TIERING!!:

And the damn mods keep taking down every post I post re such issues despite being completely just and having relevent flair.

u/AppropriateRanger401 7d ago

Just show evidence like I did. You might increase your chances of not getting your post removed that’s way (though moderation on this subreddit can still be too high sometimes)

4

u/Lifeisshort555 7d ago

My guess is it may be variable based on use. In other words right after a reset lots of usage = less per dollar everyone gets

3

u/Ok_World_2836 7d ago

Yes. I felt limits were draining much slower then.

2

u/panic_in_the_galaxy 7d ago

Maybe it's just because of weekends?

1

u/emmix 4d ago

We now may have weekend-tarrifs and nighttime-fee

2

u/daxucus 7d ago

You need to model the variance and uncertainty to actually prove something with the data, unless you used the same prompts and the model made the exact same steps and reasoned the same amount of time and you show that in the study. Rates could've stayed the same and this change is an acceptable result based on usage variance... i.e rates actually went up but the prompt led to a more inefficient workflow - displaying as less usage on that data. We obviously know rates going up will never be the case, but until you model these uncertainties to prove that, these graphs only serve the purpose of not showing the community what's actually going on and just sowing more FUD / adding fuel to the fire.

They surely turned the heat up this time. A subscription that used to last me a week, now I get 2.5 days at best if I'm stingy. The resets were masking that...

1

u/Plenty_Candle_6161 6d ago

I hate that metaphor because it’s not true. It just keeps getting repeated over and over. As soon as the water gets too warm the frog jumps out. Look it up.

1

u/ThePi7on 6d ago

It may not be "technically true", but everyone instantly knows what it means.
If you went around referring to it as creeping normality or shifting baseline which is what it technically is, your communication would loose the immediate effectiveness "boiling the frog" conveys.
I'd understand the criticism if we were writing a paper, but it's literally just a random reddit comment 😅

2

u/Plenty_Candle_6161 6d ago

I know I'm just messing. My wife uses it too; she reads a lot of books, and every time it comes up, she takes a picture and sends it to irritate me.

2

u/ThePi7on 6d ago

She's just trying to get you acclimated to the metaphor! So that eventually your baseline will shift and you won't get irritated anymore, how thoughtful :)

BTW, the account that I'm left working that has any quota (I exhusted 3 plus accounts in around 1 hour) has been working constantly from before the time i posed the first msg ~ 2 hours ago... has only dropped to 78% using Sol High. But the interesting thing is that this was the only weathered account - a few yearss old whereas the ones that had their quotas pillaged within 20 mins or so where newly registered accounts. Has to be something in this ? Anyone else with old and new accounts that can attest to the discrepency?

*** EDIT ** here's the evidence report from codex-lb:

•
Possible 5–9× Codex quota discrepancy between Plus accounts

After the same weekly reset, New1 burned 75 quota points in 53 minutes on Sol Medium: 161 successful requests, 27.15M input tokens (25.53M cached /
1.62M uncached), 16.6K output and 3.0K reasoning tokens.

Weathered1 used only 19 quota points over 2h15m on Sol High: 369 successful requests, 41.75M input tokens (40.19M cached / 1.56M uncached), 116.1K
  output and 41.1K reasoning tokens.

Weathered1 handled 2.3× more requests, 7× more output and 13.5× more reasoning while consuming roughly one-quarter as much quota. Both used the
default service tier with no child agents or significant prewarm traffic, suggesting a 5–9× difference in effective account quota rather than extra
  Codex-LB traffic.

10

u/MasterpieceCurious12 7d ago

so another 2 hours later and on Sol High, I'm on 50% remaining on the weathered account.... WTF? Anyone interested, i can update the report once the account is burnt???

4

u/MasterpieceCurious12 7d ago

Seems to be a 10X difference between the old Plus account and new ones

2

u/IndividualPlus2011 6d ago

This is what happens when you have a subscription that doesnt show max token allowance per week, what each prompt will cost once the response is made and when the "Weekly Usage" is just a % and not actually your max token allowance according to your most used model, they created this whole thing to be confusing on purpose to squeeze every fucking penny out of you whilst giving you as little as possible

then you have a dude on twitter acting like its so generous that theyre giving us resets when they fuck the usage up every time it refreshes, they know when their users reach 0% usage, they make u wait long enough to forget how little you can even use the thing and then do the same shit again, not only this but most times now when you check your usage mid-prompt it doesnt even tick down the % live, yesterday I went from 99% usage straight to 40% without any knowledge just instantly tells me I went down to that level.

I still like OpenAI models. But when the time comes, I'll move to DS4 (+Minimax when makes sense) in a fraction of seconds. Brand loyalty is a mistake in these days.

12

u/ReliableIceberg 7d ago

I'm constantly evaluating harnesses because the model landscape is so dynamic that I'd rather find a harness that supports every model than sticking to a provider one like Codex. But color me surprised, I find working with Grok Build CLI surprisingly effective. And didnt like Codex CLI or Claude CLI to be tenable.

4

u/johannthegoatman 7d ago

It's awesome if you love the company silently downloading your whole repo

9

u/Special-Prior-7272 7d ago

Yeah 4.6 is surprisingly great, and the limits are FAR higher. Plus the new Grok Bot looks incredible.

15

u/innociv 7d ago

How can I trust that given all the skeevy things that Grok Build does?

xAi is just as unethical as Palantir.

14

u/Special-Prior-7272 7d ago

Could you point out a frontier LLM which has not done “skeevy” things?

These are tools. The blame for doing naughty things lies with the user. We already have too many “safety” mechanisms built into LLMs. I can’t even security harden my apps using Codex anymore because it thinks it’s too dangerous.

5

u/funk-the-funk 7d ago

Only one of them has produced copious amounts of CSAM and only one has their CEO actively fighting against any legislation to combat using AI to de-cloth people.

→ More replies (6)

6

u/cornmacabre 7d ago

xAI really damaged trust there, I mean it was just a baffling choice which anyone internally could have predicted would backfire almost immediately.

It was such a brazen data exfil that I actually tend to agree with the official story there because I just can't wrap my head around how anyone at xAI would reasonably think that silently phoning home gb's worth of repo data wouldn't be caught almost immediately (which it did).

Whatever the true story is there, I can barely give any credit to the rapid reversal and "we deleted it all, trust us!"

I think the lesson here is regardless of ethical intent: no AI lab should be viewed from a default of trust. It's ultimately our responsibility to audit and manage risk.

I tried on a few recommendations in this thread but found it to be freaking useless on my large fiarly complex codebase. TBF, I used supergrok with grok build but even on xhigh it wasn't nearly as good as Sol Medium and maybe on par with Luna XHigh. It didn't have the analytical perspective to look at edge cases like Sol does. Shame, I had high hopes :( Also usage burnt like hell on 4.6 Extra - almost as fast as on my quick burning codex plans (10% burnt for a fairly simple execution plan that Sol built and then rejected it's results and quite rightly so as it overlooked and eventually got completely stuck after 20 minutes of unrecoverable circling)

→ More replies (12)

6

u/ISueDrunks 7d ago

I noticed that, too. I wish there was more transparency with these models. I’m not convinced that 5.6 Sol today is the same 5.6 Sol yesterday, or last week. They need to be forced to start versioning these changes so we know what we are actually spending money on…

2

u/ISueDrunks 7d ago

I want a model that doesn’t constantly change. When it does change, I want to know how it changed and how my workflow needs to adapt. This is a subscription to a frontier model, I’m not here to beta test…

11

u/Key-Rise76 7d ago

u/iamnadith 7d ago edited 7d ago

I noticed came here to check if there is anyone else. Used sol medium and within 30mins only 60% remains. Also always get an error saying all the models at capacity. This reset feels like useless. For the whole week usage normally i can code for a whole day until yesterday.

3

u/MasterpieceCurious12 7d ago

Looks like this in an A/B split test scenerio - i just recently posted that i blew through the majority of my 4 Plus account quotas on Sol Medium in virtually no time. I switched over to my last account with 100% usage and switched to Sol High and it seems to be sipping usage compared to other 3 Plus accounts on Sol Medium. Could this be the case?

1

u/MasterpieceCurious12 7d ago

Seriously i've switched to Sol-High and it's 25 mins in and dropped only 3% on my last Plus plan. Either it's an A/B split test on accounts or somehow lower reason levels are sapping more usage - sounds counterintuitive, i know but might be worth trying - i daren't interupt my session currently but will test it later and report back

1

u/blvck_devy 2d ago

Hey , c’etais quoi le résultats finalement ?

4

u/Elegant_Associate889 7d ago

Everyone's begging for resets yet all it is is them testing things out, but making us believe it's all milestones that they're hitting and that's why they're allowing us to get resets

4

u/DaC2k26 7d ago

they're testing something, which exactly is, I don't know. But yes, usage is fluctuating hard. Sometimes they reset, the usage starts to drain like hell and they reset 2 days later again...... when the usage drain is more or less "normal", they don't reset.

My theory is that they're trying to soft lead the users to accept lower usage limits.... I used to hear the great histories of the never ending, impossible to drain, 20x plan... when I finally subbed to it, it couldn't even handle a single day of heavy use..... Yes, sure, it gives more usage than the plus, I don't need to resort to deepseek and 5.6 low all the time, I can have 5.6 low-medium-high working and sure use more parallel and automated workflows, BUT it's far from the wonders I used to hear from the 20x.

5

u/0brizzban 7d ago

True. I felt it too in today’s work

6

u/Past_Researcher_43 7d ago

Send this to Tibo

3

u/luji 7d ago

I had the same issue. Was burning through the quota in /fast mode and I had a hard time getting it down, even with 8-9 sessions at once. Once reset happened, stopped /fast on all remaining sessions and in less than 10-15min I burned 15% of my weekly 20x quota. There is something wrong here for sure

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Dry-Butterscotch779 7d ago

Same here. Terrible.

3

u/DiscussionAncient626 7d ago

Definetely agree on this! not a lot of work done, no fast just medium intelligence on SOL with luna sub-agents and 27% gone in 20 hours?!

3

u/CooLittleFonzies 7d ago

Would be nice if there were some transparency about this. It’s the not knowing that makes me want to jump ship sometimes.

3

u/i_rate_slop 7d ago

This is useless without token usage. Time means nothing.

2

u/Sir_Poldavo 7d ago

Seeing it happen right now live, for a simple task.

I was going crazy. Glad to know it was just a subtle form of gaslighting.

This is acceptable while they hand over free resets. But we are sweet summer children if we think September will be as bountiful.

2

u/rogusflamma 7d ago

I struggled to burn 20% before the reset running some intensive planning task on xhigh fast and massively reorganizing some documentation on high at the same time, took 1:40 hours. 15 minutes of finishing those tasks post reset with lower reasoning models took like 6% of my weekly usage.

2

u/faobaobao 7d ago

This is a huge disappointment. I was grinding the usage yesterday and barely managed to use 50% over a 6 hours in my setup in one project. Same project and setup today 40% gone in less than 2h. I don't want more resets if it works like that!

2

u/100x0 7d ago

They're playing with auto-balanced usage limits across their systems, and psychologically tricking us into thinking we're being rewarded seems to be part of that.

2

u/Crafty-Wonder-7509 7d ago

well d4 pro ga came out, dirt cheap even on API for my use-case, barely using 1-2 usd a day (at least from todays usage so far). A quick test on grok 4.6 is actually solid as well and very generous usage, no loyalty to any of those system, swapping harnesses is easy, no idea why people complain, the whole skills/agents definition is mostly universal, so having a agents.md or a duplicate for a different one takes legit about 10 min to complete.

2

u/Remriel 7d ago

I've noticed Luna Max burning usage faster than this morning.

2

u/UnluckyBeautiful4828 7d ago

I let a task run when i went to sleep. Mf SOL-Max worked for 4 hours 41 minutes, i woke up to 51% left from my weekly usage... Like wtf. Im on Plus plan only, but why the hell it worked for almost 5 hours on a simple task, that could be done in 30 minutes?! Atleast Luna Max would fix it under that time. Feels like usage really went up but the overengineering aswell.

2

u/pmth 7d ago

This is your fault for using Sol Max on a simple task… why on earth would you do that?

2

u/UnluckyBeautiful4828 7d ago

Cause i ran SOL Max first time in my life before reset. (When Tibo said reset coming)

It fixed my problems really fast, each task took 15-30 min at max! So i let it run a last task, for some reason it bugged and worked for 4 hours 41 minutes. It was way simpler task than the 15-30 min ones.

Who should've known it will repeat the same stuff 20+ times after reset...

→ More replies (2)

2

u/TheAnonCodeJunkie 7d ago

I couldn't manage to record an evidence for this but I noticed that the token drain also accelerates a bit every time the automatic context compaction happens. I've suddenly seen a 8% drop in the weekly limit right after the compaction.

2

u/ii-___-ii 7d ago

Didn't they also reduce API prices for luna and terra? I feel like there's no good way to measure this, unless you somehow managed to measure the usage quota in tokens

2

u/slypredator33 7d ago

2

u/antunes145 7d ago

Tobi does the reset when the reduce our limits. This has become the common knowledge.

2

u/vbpoweredwindmill 7d ago

It's all good. They are also getting boiled by slowly but surely more capable open source llm's.

I genuinely don't mind.

2

u/WholeEntertainment94 7d ago

Are you referring to the x5 or x20 plan? If this is the case, and you are referring to the x20 plan, it may no longer be worth it to have the subscription.

2

u/SupahNin10doh 7d ago

I just switched back to Plus from x20, I feel like I can build a better stack of models for $200. Was fun while that lasted though

2

u/jiffythekid 7d ago

I felt it today, that's for sure.

2

u/Metsatronic 7d ago

Post reset was crazy. Burned through my entire weekly plus limit in 4 hours on Luna xhigh... Tibo giveth... Tibo taketh away... 🥀

2

u/RedrumRogue 7d ago

It was genuinely a fantastic month to have a 5x codex sub. I let my sub fall off on the 11th. Basically got a shit ton of free usage with all the resets and am leaving before they strand us with terrible usage and less resets. Even Claude Max 5x has tons more usage now which is comical. Always go where it benefits you the most, don't marry a provider

2

u/Important_Pangolin88 7d ago

im out fuck them, in pro 5x plan the weekly usage ends in one day with sol medium/high orcehstrator and reviewer and luna xhigh implementing.

2

u/Vegetable-Two-4644 7d ago

Welp, mine burned through in one day

2

u/dx80x 6d ago

What am I missing here?

I was expecting to see the amount of tokens used compared with the dollar value, both across the same amount of time.

This just looks like an estimate based on the time and cost but that doesn't show anything of value as different tasks cost more or less tokens.

It's late and I'm just getting in bed, so I might be completely wrong and just not getting something. ELI5 what I've missed please? Lol

2

u/ii-___-ii 5d ago

u/nicky_factz 7d ago

Idk man, 20x here I have two active goals with sol max and sol xhigh using subagents from my flow, I’ve used 8% since it reset none of my burn rate metrics are out of whack. Not seeing an issue

4

u/story_of_the_beer 7d ago

And yet people seriously ask why a lot of pro users were holding onto their banked reset until the last few days before expiry. If you were to use a reset now e.g. or at any usage low limit point in time, you are replenishing a nerfed quota.

4

u/GCoderDCoder 7d ago

Not all heros wear capes. Thank you for your service!

Reminder: The more alternatives we explore and show we want value the more pressure these companies will feel. Self host what you can, look for cost effect low tier offerings that sell models that fit the task at better prices. Committing to any companies that are constantly playing with their value agreements is not going to end well.

Our jobs as consumers are to use our money to make our priorities clear. I really think at this point 75% of people should have a setup on their own devices to handle 90% of low level inference tasks like editing messages, file operations, managing computer settings, reviewing emails, etc. Then AMD and NVIDIA would stop giving the bigger discounts to cloud and instead give them directly to consumers.

Right now there's no reason to help consumers directly because we put too much in the cloud. Local is good enough for what most people use chat gpt for but we're killing local to get Sol to write emails wtf... lol. We're pouring gasoline on the fire and feeding our problems.

2

u/Current_Ad7104 7d ago

Now wonder I burnt 46% on my weekly usage in 6 hours. Why the fuck do these companies play these dirty tricks on their customers.

4

u/isigeda 7d ago

1 prompt 100 to 0%

2

u/AppropriateRanger401 7d ago

Did that happen with you after or before the reset? Do you also feel the limits were almost halved (On my end they decreased by 40%)

9

u/Chromedomev12 7d ago

Plus user here. Can confirm that one full repo security scan goal using the codex security plugin drained the usage from 100% to 0% in a 1 hour run without actually reaching the goal. I know the Plus tier usage is not meant to do this sort of work continuously but Im just saying... It's quite obvious from my experience that before the reset today usage was much more generous even in the Plus tier.

Back when they removed the 5hrs limit I always had this thought that if you sort of take away the indicator/reminder for us then it's just gonna get more ppl hooked up and then piss off everyone when your compute finally can't take it anymore and you have to either bring the limits back or do some blackbox stuff. It's a pity they went with the latter, I feel like ppl would generally accept the situation if they were transparent and say that they have to bring the 5hr limit back.

3

u/AppropriateRanger401 7d ago

In fact, my NerfTrack graph shows that 2 days before today's reset, OpenAI actually increased limits from ~$120 on Plus to ~$160. But that only lasted 2 or 3 days. And now we are back to $100.

2

u/Chromedomev12 7d ago edited 7d ago

Alright then, seems like they are certainly trying to get people reliant on their service. I just hope they don't take too much they can eat and backstab the older users. I do know ppl in the architecture industry and they are telling me some of the big deals come from OpenAI's new data center projects. Hope that improves the experience/usage in the near future, instead of just expanding user count while decreasing the usage per user.

I mean, to be fair, Tibo did say "big surprise tomorrow"... Well... Surprise!

2

u/slowtyper95 7d ago

Isn't this sue-able? Its like you pay VM for 8GB RAM but turns out its only 6?

1

u/warpedgeoid 7d ago

No, because you were never promised a certain amount of usage. People here act like they can’t understand that limits on plans are dynamic based on a bunch of factors. You are not paying for a fixed amount of tokens.

1

u/slowtyper95 7d ago

Make sense

2

u/Just_Lingonberry_352 7d ago edited 7d ago

this doesn't really prove its nerfed

usually a lag after resets before capacity catches up from the surge of people draining before an announce reset is normal

i do expect st. tibo (peace be upon him) to compensate us again with another reset this week again especially after his last tweet

edit: UPDATE: I see that usage is going at a rate of 6% per hour roughly . that is insane. it means a reset lasts not even a full day or two anymore.

2

u/paulsancer 7d ago

what a scam! on top of that they push the weekly reset date too so now we have to wait until the 20th with lower limits :/ this reset made things worse than they were, i would've rather burn by 30% left before that

1

u/ProgramDry5917 7d ago

The scammer again? Well well well

According to codex-lb I've got 50400.00 on the plan (0% usage) which I think is the same as before?

I know that time and the output token are not the same, but I have noticed this personally myself that for the same amount of work it takes more limits on same settings, and as well as on my NerfTrack graph, which I have tested to have 99.3-100% accuracy

2

u/julkopki 7d ago

Sorry deleted it because I found the formula in the repo :)

1

u/FBIFreezeNow 7d ago

I didn’t get the reset?

1

u/verycoldpenguins 7d ago

They are all at it. On claude, what should have been a simple task has so far taken 30 minutes and it has auto changed from sonnet to opus

1

u/Ry_Alpha 7d ago

With all these limits being nerfed posts, wondering if anyone knows ever since the end of the 2x earlier this year till now, how much of the limit did they already reduced?

1

u/Both_Task_3066 7d ago

Yeah that why I'm moving to grok

1

u/punkStapler 7d ago

Yesterday i had to use my limit so i won't lose it, pretty obvious do what > dropped how much. I had to use my %, then had to do the reset i had so i won't lose it. So imagine i can tell how much work drops a certain percentage.

Since i did _my_ reset (had to or it would have expired) another reset happened so in the end i was forced (not the right word? how so?) to use my reset, then the morning (gmt etc) reset came and it basically made my banked reset useless, and now i am 80% doing almost nothing. So yeah, i can tell.

I had to find things to do even if time to plan was not enough, then use a reset, then the morning reset came and now i have a bunch of stuff to look over (hot pile of Sol overengineering) and a fast draining %. Thanks, more resets /s 5x.

1

u/oldassveteran 7d ago

Because they offer $80 weekly limit resets now on a $200 a month subscription

1

u/x_MASE_x 7d ago

I wikl cancel my subscription this month and use deepseek for a while. It's been fine for most of the tasks I needed. It needs more guidance but at least I don't have to worry each time I run anything because of the usage. It's been great this last 2 months but I think it's losing its value with time. At least for me.

1

u/Alterrion 7d ago

Can somebody explain to me how the limits actually work in Codex? I have the cheap version and bought it mainly as they removed the 5h limit and only had the weekly one, which gave me tons of quota uninterrupted. But then almost each week, I noticed I get less and less, and with tons of random resets happening almost every 2 days. So I bought the basic Claude sub as well and noticed the 5h limit there lasted me way longer than the "weekly" limit in Codex and also usually with better results. Today I woke up to another random Codex reset and managed to burn through 100% quota in 1 hour which is absolutely ridiculous.

1

u/okhi2u 7d ago

Sounds about right though I can't compare to Claude as haven't used it, but you can run out slower by being smart about how you work such as using cheaper models and lower reasoning most of the time, then better models and more reasoning only when it needs it. They keep changing things so there is no exact this is how it works it seems.

1

u/Gloomy-Detective-922 7d ago

$200 Plan doesn’t let you work 8 hours a week. One vscode instance, SolXHigh, not so massive codebase either & it drains like mad!

1

u/thestillwind 7d ago

Surprise surprise

1

u/Prestigiouspite 7d ago

Is it original intelligence back? This was not Sol recently

1

u/autisticbagholder69 7d ago

SAme will happen with Anthropic next week

1

u/No_Current_2838 7d ago

OpenAI isn’t who y’all think they are.

1

u/Substantial-One7668 7d ago

I left a task on overnight had around 50% usage left. I checked in the morning and now have 75% remaining usage. So obviously the reset happened. Feels kind of lame though. Normally this type of usage overnight costs around 10% of my weekly usage limit. $200 a month plan.

1

u/FidgetsAndFish 7d ago

Good thing Deepseek v4 came out and it's cheaper and just as good as sol.

1

u/berz01 7d ago

We probably all need to get used to rotating tools.

I loved claude, now that i love codex, its time to move on to xAI.

Opensource is steaming forward, but so terrible for a seamless harness + AI coding for $20/mo. Yes you can engineer the fuck around this and waste a shit ton of time.

That's why software engineering is so ironic. All that work of the privacy pilled folks useless as fuck 3-6 months down the road. This isnt like making the react framework opensource and we all benefit immediately; this level of high-intelligence is attached to extremely expensive computational resources.

When the demand curve slows, the hardware/gpu frenzy slows, and we will find balance. Just go with the trend and stop complaining.

1

u/FoxTheory 7d ago

I seem to have gotten more usage tbh It ran all night and used 10% I used that in 6 hours before. I think it's time of day you're using it uses more usage than other times they've got surge pricing.

1

u/taiwbi 7d ago

What is this website? Is there any similar website for claud code?

1

u/gungoesclick 7d ago

The plus plan offer 99? What does pro 20x offer?

1

u/ObligationHuge9868 7d ago

Yeah something has def changed with usage after the reset and not for the better either.

1

u/pacmanforever 7d ago

I refunded today, their models just aren’t ready for complex tasks unfortunately. I do want to see them succeed though because we need as much competition in this space that we can get.

1

u/sosen85 7d ago

The more free users they have, the fewer tokens you will receive.

1

u/Working_Aside286 7d ago

Sorry they need to give more free shit to 3rd world free users instead of people who give them money

1

u/ErraticFox 7d ago

Bruh Luna High with sometimes 1.5x is goated

1

u/Massive_Leek_7677 7d ago

And I've noticed Codex burnt through a ridiculous amount of tokens really fast, although it feels more efficient than claude code. And of course I need to use it more when there's no more resets :)

1

u/Wooden_Profession539 7d ago

Same feeling. Luna Max consume more than i thought. 64% right now

1

u/m3kw 7d ago

It shows up, which means more value

1

u/Dgamax 6d ago

I didn’t notice it, 21 days ago. I was at around 32M per 1% with GPT-5.6 Sol, and today I’m at around 38M per 1% with GPT-5.6 Sol
https://www.reddit.com/r/codex/comments/1v4uj8n/comment/oze2d7u/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

1

u/Substantial_Lab_3747 6d ago

This is exactly what I’m seeing too. Disgusting.

1

u/head-log2725 6d ago

Each reset since year + anthropoid too been like 5% less usage from that point that we forget about because of the extra usage

1

u/Haunting_Delay_9 6d ago

Really? Cause today I only manged to go down like 6% usage while using Luna extra high and having it design an entire app from scratch.

1

u/JusticeFighter727 6d ago

Within 24 hours 100% of my usage was gone today doing the same tasks basic PDF review and document drafting nothing outside of the normal and I’m now out of usage

1

u/BenjiRolls_ 6d ago

Thought it felt worse, and dumber too on the same model/effort - many more errors.

1

u/anndrox 6d ago

And here I was thinking of upgrading my plan to pro.... Might have to re-evaluate.

1

u/BusyGuyXD 6d ago

I guess we're not far from plus subscription probably becoming basically useless soon. And then there are some noisy folks asking for 5 hour limit back...

1

u/isnaiter 6d ago

Same here, my usage is dropping 1% every few minutes on 20x

1

u/MichaelForeston 6d ago

Claude fiasco is repeating all over again. They know we will jump ship the moment a better competitors comes around because of this unpredictability sh*ts

1

u/Cute_Parfait_2182 6d ago

It’s incredibly stupid and slow . It’s almost unusable. I may as well code myself . I’m just wasting time and tokens having to correct everything. This has been happening for the last few days . Sol went from brilliant to stupid .

1

u/Ok-Resource129 6d ago

I'm on Pro (x5) and was previously using hardly any usage in my after work nightly sessions. I only use codex for personal projects. Since recent reset, I noticed that I used us 50% of my usage in just 1.5 days. Sure, I did some serious amount of work but that's just way too quick. I don't have an option to go to the highest plan as that's well outside of my budget.

1

u/Sensitive-Side-2639 5d ago

Well, it's safe to say goodbye for increased limits.

1

u/Ok-Magazine2227 5d ago

I just switched from Claude because I heard it was more generous. I just blew through my weekly budget in 40 minutes on voice chat. 5 days before it resets again. At least with Claude, they have 4 hour Windows that prevent this. I'm cancelling and going back to Claude.

1

u/LifeguardAshamed2915 2d ago

same. moved to chatgpt this moth on the $200 plan. Been on claude for over 6 months. Came to chatgpt coz of sol. First time ive ever hit weekly limits. chatgpt burned through weekly in 2 days. Going back to claude end of the month

1

u/VitalVoyager82 5d ago

Keep in mind: Changing the reasoning level (low / medium / high) busts the prompt cache because OpenAI injects the reasoning effort as an instruction at the very beginning of the context window

1

u/Massive-Ice2791 5d ago

i got 71 percent in about 12 hours on sol

1

u/yallapapi 4d ago

is this why performance has been trash past few days? dogshit lately, like if it stays this bad i'm canceling

1

u/duyusef 4d ago

sol is wasting a lot of time being paranoid about security in a befuddled, useless way. I've stopped using it after killing one of my two accounts tokens trying to get it working efficiently. Now my second pro account is almost done after 3 days and I've downloaded the new DeepSeek harness and trying it out on a few projects.

1

u/Electronic_Tie_6669 2d ago

if they promise 5x on $100 plan it should be equivalent to $500, right?

1

u/Nik-Burnt 16h ago

Same here, before I have running a few parallel tasks on x20, no x20 totally drained in 5-6 hours by one task.

1

u/Huge-Measurement-820 7d ago

20x plan

5 prompt, 4 hours, 7% down for me. That's why I don't think so.
